Responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of safety, security, and compliance in all aspects of data center operations.

  • Understand the design, functionality, and operational requirements of your data center.

  • Collaborate with a team of industry professionals across Information Technology (IT) and Critical Environments (CE) to support 24x7x365 on-site data center operations and mechanical infrastructure.

  • Serve as the technical authority for on-site operations of large-scale mechanical systems and designs.

  • Establish and coordinate maintenance and safety procedures, ensuring the reliability of high-capacity cooling systems and supporting backup electrical systems (e.g., diesel generators, rotary UPS).

  • Steward critical infrastructure that supports the deployment of Microsoft's online services.

  • Assistwith supplierselectionand oversee mechanical supplier execution to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related technical engineering experience ORBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.

Background Check Requirements:

Abilityto meet Microsoft,customerand/or government security screening requirements arerequiredfor this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, or related field ORMaster's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related technical engineering experience ORBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.

Mechanical Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
