CLA is growing and seeking to hire an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our talented Information Technology team. The position offers growth, flexibility and a collaborative work environment.

In this position you should have the following; excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment. Most important, demonstrate a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

The role serves as a hands-on technical authority responsible for shaping the enterprise data landscape. They guide the design, development, and optimization of scalable data solutions that enable strategic decision-making across the organization. The role enforces engineering best practices and technical standards while providing mentorship that enhances team capability, elevates delivery quality, and strengthens organizational impact.

How you'll create opportunities in this Lead Data Engineer role:

  • Act as a technical SME in data engineering, providing advanced expertise in architecture, design, and best practices.

  • Lead team of engineers in building scalable data pipelines using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Snowflake.

  • Oversee technical execution, ensuring solutions meet performance, reliability, security, and compliance standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical direction and resolve complex challenges.

  • Own and drive improvements in scalability, maintainability, and performance through advanced design, refactoring, and documentation.

  • Direct team's participation in agile processes, ensuring team delivery aligns with business priorities.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership providing coaching, development, and performance management.

What you will need:

  • 6 years of relevant experience required.

  • Cloud Engineering across Azure or AWS and Databricks experience.

  • Experience designing and building enterprise data pipelines, databases/data warehouses, and system integrations (APIs, ETL, or middleware).

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of relevant experience and training may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Certifications / Licenses

  • None required.

  • One or more of the following preferred:

  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate

  • Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional

  • AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate

  • Google Certified Professional Data Engineer

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate

Technical Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Office products (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Advanced proficiency in programming, such as Python, R, Scala, Java, , Snowflake, GitHub, and SQL required.

  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib Advanced proficiency in data modeling and big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark

  • Proficiency in data privacy regulations such as DGPR and CCPA Advanced proficiency in system integrations, APIs, and middleware.

  • Skilled in addressing technical debt, optimizing performance, and producing enterprise-grade code.

Our approach to compensation emphasizes collaboration and career growth. We pay competitive wages and view compensation as an investment in our people. Factors such as geography, experience, education, skills, and knowledge may impact position of pay within the range.

The compensation range for this position in California is: $124,100.00 - $209,000.00
