The Computational Associate will participate in data analysis for two ambitious multi-omic research projects focused on emerging cardiovascular risk factors. This role is ideal for post-Masters students looking to gain hands-on research experience, build their publication record, and explore research opportunities before applying to PhD programs. Dr. Honigberg has a robust publication record and is committed to providing comprehensive training, guidance in research and writing, and opportunities for collaboration and presenting research work.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities may vary according to projects, but include the following:
* Perform genetic and multi-omic analysis
* Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), Harvard Medical School, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard
* Participate in scientific writing and contribute to publications
* Present research findings at internal and external meetings
* Makes proficient intellectual contributions to scientific strategies of the lab and plays a leadership role by acting as subject matter expert
* Contributes to the design and execution of experiments and/or research projects
* Exercises judgment in selecting methods and technologies to obtain results
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should possess:
* Experience analyzing genetic and genomic data, such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS) or rare variant analysis (Preferred but not required)
* Strong programming skills (e.g., R, Python)
* Excellent organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
* Self-motivated and driven to contribute to scientific research
EDUCATION:
* Master's degree in genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, or a related field (Bachelor's degree with relevant experience will also be considered)
EXPERIENCE:
Previous Research experience (inclusive of graduate experience) preferred.

- Must be a problem solver willing to take the initiative and prioritize tasks, thereby ensuring the smooth and efficient conduct of several projects simultaneously.
- A high degree of computer literacy in order to use various spreadsheet, database, accounting and word processing programs to assist in administrative, grant proposal preparation, and research reporting activities.
- Excellent organizational skills in order to formulate, implement, and monitor a number of interrelated tasks.
- Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in handling of sensitive and confidential information.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and prioritize work from several sources.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for internal and external communications.
