Job Description

The Office Support Assistant IV plays a vital role in supporting the Chairs of English and the School of Languages, Literatures, & Cultures (SLLC), serving as the go-to person for keeping daily operations running smoothly. From coordinating faculty needs and academic events to managing logistics for travel and promotion and tenure processes, this position is central to the success of both departments. Key Responsibilities:

Chair and Departmental Support

  • Manage and maintain the calendars for the Chairs of English and SLLC, including scheduling meetings and appointments.
  • Provide direct administrative support to the Chairs, including support for departmental initiatives and projects.
  • Process memberships and dues, and coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements (airfare, lodging, etc.).
  • Maintain departmental mailing and distribution lists.
  • Reconcile and process One Card transactions for both department and Chair purchases.
  • Provide logistical support for departmental events, including coordinating room reservations, guest speakers, catering, and communication.
  • Maintain and update departmental websites and social media.

Faculty Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for faculty and respond to inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Provide administrative support for faculty recruitment, including travel planning and ad posting.
  • Assist faculty with reimbursement processes and procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Record and distribute minutes for faculty meetings.
  • Support faculty with planning and executing departmental events.
  • Coordinate faculty submissions in the Promotion & Tenure Review (RPT) module.
Shift

This is an in-person job that generally works Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with some flexibility of start and end time.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with event planning a plus.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Familiarity with Outlook and Teams.
  • Familiarity with PowerBI, Cherwell, or the RPT modules.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.00 - $19.29/hour

Grade: GGS - 006

Other Information

This is an on-site position located on the campus of the University of Missouri-Columbia. Applicants must reside in the state of Missouri or be willing to relocate prior to the hire date.
