1+ years of experience: $61,600-$75,000

2+ years of experience: $72,000-$92,500

These ranges reflect what BNSF Railway reasonably expects to pay for this position, based on the role's level, scope, and responsibilities. Final compensation and position level will be determined by factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to base pay and bonus eligibility, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Key responsibilities may include:

This position will be working with all levels of the Engineering and Human Resources teams

Responsible for exempt staffing functions within the Engineering organization including posting jobs, screening applicants, coordinating interviews, assisting with candidateselections, and managing post-offer programs and process, including BNSF's relocation program requirements

Manage all paperwork and related processes for Engineering Exempt hires and internal organizational movement, including ownership of entries into the Operations Vacancy Tracker and Ops Vacancy Power BI.

Support the Engineering Administration team in the in recruitment of Experienced First Line Supervisors, Management Trainees and Interns for the Track, Signal, Structures, Roadway Equipment and Engineering Services departments

Coach engineering officers on proper interviewing and selection protocol and ensure all selections comply with BNSF policy and employment law

Lead interview panels and maintain hiring file documentation

Participate in performance management and talent planning sessions

Serve as a resource for and partner with corporate and field HR business partners

Research and resolve HR issues including organization changes, expenses, payroll issues, compensation and benefits questions, First Line Supervisor testing, retirements, etc.

Assist with training employees and engineering leaders on HR/Staffing processes and job application and talent management sites

Oversee FLS onboarding support programs (Ex: 30-60-90 day plans)

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF's assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status)
  • Minimum of one year of experience in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Must possess interpersonal skills appropriate for representing BNSF in dealing with internal customers, potential employees, universities and other employment organizations
  • Must be familiar with employment law and be able to coach Engineering officers in this area, to include interviewing protocol and leading interview panels
  • Must be competent and confident in providing feedback to new employees and mentors on performance
  • Must have strong interviewing skills to support a lead role in candidate selection
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity in handling confidential information and have the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Must be detail-oriented and be proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Multi-tasking ability in a fast-paced work environment is essential for success
  • Ability to build strong relationships with members of the Engineering Team is essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or other related field
  • 1-3 years of experience using Applicant Tracking Systems and Human Resources Information Systems
  • A basic understanding of the Engineering Department organization to include operating practices and procedures
