Position description
Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at UCR

The School of Education (SOE) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is committed to its mission to advance equitable educational systems and practices, which are driven by core values of equity, evidence, excellence, community, critical thinking, and compassion. Located in the Inland Empire, a racially and economically diverse region on Tribal lands, UCR is a land-grant public institution designated as a Hispanic-serving, Minority Serving, and Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution. Within this context, we seek to hire a PostDoctoral Research Fellow to join the FLAME research group (Website: https://sites.google.com/view/flame-ucr/) under the direction of Principal Investigator Eunsoo Cho. The postdoctoral fellow will contribute to multiple projects focused on developing and evaluating literacy interventions and assessments for students with literacy difficulties and language-based disabilities.

This is a two-year position with opportunities to extend depending on performance and availability of funds. Start date is negotiable.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and analyze quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Prepare data summaries, technical reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations.
  • Collaborate with research staff across multiple study sites and assist in supervising undergraduate and doctoral research assistants.
  • Work closely with school and district partners to support ongoing research collaborations and followup studies.
  • Engage in grant writing


Examples of Duties:

Under the supervision of the PI and in collaboration with the other identified key personnel, the post-doctoral fellow will oversee all phases of the projects, including, but not limited to:



  • Oversee phases of data management, lead or support data analysis (advanced statistical analyses and mixed methods), and support dissemination efforts contributing to manuscripts and reports.
  • Collaborate with research staff in coordinating research activities with school and communitybased partners.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of intervention materials and implementation procedures.
  • Support grant writing, including preliminary analyses, drafting sections, and organizing supporting materials.


Qualifications:

A PhD in Special Education, or related discipline, before the start of appointment.

Basic qualifications:



  • Experience with managing educational research data (e.g., assessment data, classroom observations, surveys, interviews), quantitative methods, and data analysis.
  • Experience conducting school-based reading and/or writing intervention research.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with advanced statistical analyses such as SEM, mixture models, multi-level models, IRT
  • Experience with mixed methods and qualitative coding
  • Experience managing or contributing to externally funded research projects
  • Experience publishing in peer-reviewed journals and strong evidence of publication potential
  • Experience designing literacy instruction and instructional materials
  • Experience providing training or supervision to undergraduate and graduate students


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, Mplus).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams and school/community partners.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage timelines and deliverables
