We're looking for a Data Governance Lead who's ready to build, guide, and champion a modern data governance program across the credit union.

Location/Schedule:



  • Hybrid schedule with 2-3 days/week at our corporate office in Lake Forest, IL.
  • Local Northern IL/Southeast WI candidates only!


What You'll Do:



  • Enable data as a product by guiding data owners and product owners with onboarding, coaching, and governance roadmaps.
  • Lead our Data Governance program by defining policies, standards, and best practices that ensure high-quality, compliant, and secure data.
  • Build the governance operating model by establishing roles, decision rights, and escalation paths.
  • Partner across the business and IT to monitor data quality, resolve issues, and support regulatory requirements (NCUA, CCPA).
  • Own metadata and master data integrity by working with data engineering and stewards to enforce documentation and standards.
  • Empower teams with tools and knowledge by supporting business glossaries, data catalogs, and CCU's data governance platform.
  • Promote a data-driven culture through workshops, training, newsletters, dashboards, and success stories.
  • Evaluate and implement governance tools by partnering with IT and procurement on vendor selection, ROI, and integrations.


What You Bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Business Administration, or related field

    • Master's degree in a related field (preferred)


  • CDMP certification (preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or related roles
  • 2+ years of experience in a credit union or financial institution (preferred)
  • OR: 7+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Experience with data enterprise warehouses such as Snowflake and Databricks and tools like Coalesce
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and change-leadership skills
  • A passion for making data understandable, usable, and trusted
  • Strong problem-solving, judgment and decision-making skills


Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $103,391 to $165,428. per year. This role is eligible for an annual bonus opportunity. A specific salary offer considers factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
