About the opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate Technology Infrastructure Engineer to support daily Infrastructure Operations. This role involves maintaining core systems, resolving infrastructure alerts, and assisting with both on-premises and cloud-based technologies. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the Infrastructure and Support/Desktop teams, escalating issues as needed. This is a regular, benefits eligible, full time, salaried position, eligible for remote, hybrid, or in-office work within the U.S.

What you will accomplish

  • Support Windows Server environments: Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), NTFS permissions, user/group management, and disk maintenance.
  • Manage VMware virtual infrastructure: provision, modify, and troubleshoot virtual machines.
  • Monitor and schedule backups using Veeam; ensure backup integrity and availability.
  • Monitor and manage storage systems, particularly HPE Nimble.
  • Conduct regular infrastructure health checks and performance monitoring.
  • Set up, configure, and troubleshoot printers, including Vasion print management systems.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting for laptops, printers, DTENs, VPNs, and wireless connectivity.
  • Support key applications such as Vision, ArcGIS Pro, and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Perform patch management across servers and Azure virtual desktops to ensure security and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and support HP and Dell hardware.
  • Respond to and resolve infrastructure alerts from LogicMonitor.
  • Assist with Azure infrastructure tasks, particularly Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and GIS AVD support.
  • Coordinate with the Support/Desktop team to ensure efficient resolution of escalated issues.
  • Create, update, and maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.

Experience and qualifications for success

Formal Education & Certification

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to provide Tier 2-3 Support
  • Must understand Azure systems design, management, and administration
  • Experience with Microsoft on-premise tools (AD, GPO, SCCM) and cloud tools (Entra, Intune)
  • Experience with automation such as Powershell and/or Python
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience in cloud technology
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, 3+ years preferred
  • Technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards
  • Background working with Windows Server and Azure

  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Easily adaptable to rapidly shifting priorities based on business requirements.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to document all work and explain complex infrastructure concepts to non-technical colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Customer service skills an asset.
Work Conditions
  • Must be willing and able to travel to SWCA offices and manage some off-hours changes/ implementations or on-call hours as needed. Up to 30% travel may be required for equipment and datacenter maintenance, lifecycle management/upgrades, and moves/adds/changes.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.
  • Occasional inspection of cables in floors and ceilings.
  • Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.

An employee in this corporate based position can expect a pay rate of $70,761/year - $92,102/year. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
