Job Summary

We are seeking anAdvanced Practice ProviderinourDuke Allergy ClinicslocatedinDurhamand Cary, NCto work in collaboration with attending physicians, collect and document dataand provide direct patient care services to general allergy patients.Primary hours will be Monday through Friday, day shift, with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients.The ideal candidate will be an autonomous, highly motivated Providerwith excellent communication and organizational skills whoisinterested in managing multiple and severe allergicand immunologicconditions in a high-volume, fast-paced outpatient clinic.

Job Duties & Responsibilities



  • Performthorough patient assessments including history taking, physical examination, ordering and interpretingdiagnostic and therapeutic procedures toassistphysicianin diagnosingand managingcomplexallergic and immunologic conditions.Prescribing necessary treatment and services for quality patient care.
  • Synthesize apatient'shistory into a detailed and organized chart note, conduct physical examinations, and record the datain the patient's record;Develop and implement individualized treatment planwith supervising physician to be able to independently reassess at follow-up appointments.
  • Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain necessity, preparation, nature andanticipatedeffects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
  • Monitor progress of patients, report progress to supervisingphysicians, andmaintainrecord of each patient's progress, consulting with supervising physician when patient's progress does not meetanticipatedand/or predetermined criteria.
  • Assistwith triage support for same-day, urgent access appointments and in-basket message management.Participation in cross coverage ofin-basket.
  • Able and willing to assess and treat acute allergic or anaphylactic reactions that may occur in our immunotherapy and biologic shot clinic.
  • Assistwith supervision of immunotherapy and biologic injections that will be given by our team of allergy shot nurses.
  • May have opportunities toparticipatein basic science and clinical research projects conducted by supervisingphysicians; prepare statistical reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends andappropriate recommendationsor conclusions. Train new personnel. Participate in teaching students and residents in techniques and procedures which are unique to specific clinicalsettings.
  • KeepingUp-to-Date- The field of Allergy and Immunology is constantly evolving. Staying current with treatments and best practices is essential but can be demanding.



Job Eligibility Requirements

Education



  • Nurse Practitioners:Workrequires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with aMaster's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants:Workrequires completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. ABachelor'sdegreerequired;Master'sdegreestronglypreferred.



Certification



  • BLSrequired.



License



  • Nurse Practitioners:Musthave current or compact RN licensure & NP approval to practice in the state of North Carolina. BLSrequired. National certification as a NPrequired.
  • Physician Assistants:Mustbe licensed in thestate of NC andbe certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. BLSrequired.
  • Both: DEAlicensewith prescriptive authorityrequired.



Experience



  • 1+ years of APP experiencestronglypreferred.PreviousAllergy/Immunology experience preferred but notrequired.



Job Hours

Monday-Friday, day shift(8a,-5pm),with flexibility to meet clinic needs
