The Assistant, Business Development supports day-to-day needs of team members and practice group lawyers in the execution of strategic go-to-market initiatives that generate new client relationships, enhance brand profile and drive revenue opportunities.

This role supports business development initiatives for the Financial Institutions sector and may be based in Houston, Dallas, Austin, or San Antonio. It follows a hybrid schedule, with inoffice presence and travel expected on an asneeded basis.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Financial Institutions sector in the production of client-targeted marketing materials such as bids/RFPs, client development presentations, external publications, annual client value reports or relationship statement documents, ensuring adherence to brand and style guidelines.

  • Work with other team members to assist in the production of newsletters, blogs, client alerts and other external communications in a timely manner.

  • Assist in the development of submissions in legal directories (such as Chambers and Legal 500) and relevant practice/industry surveys.

  • Track client engagement activities for Financial Institutions sector responses in the Firm's experience management system, including producing periodic reports on bid activity, collecting and publishing historical proposal data, and locating source files.

  • Support events, such as industry conference sponsorships, client presentations and seminars, section/department retreats, client dinners, and other events related to the promotion of the Financial Institutions practices.

  • Support basic research projects (e.g., company relationship information, executive profiles, experience lists, etc.) working with others to finalize and deliver.

  • Work with other team members to collect, organize and distribute internal communications for promoting client engagement activities on a monthly basis.

  • Assist with the production of internal presentations for relevant training/development programs.

  • Monitor content and related experience used for go-to-market initiatives to ensure accuracy and consistency; update and organize in the Firm's document and experience management systems as needed, ensuring adherence to brand and style guidelines.

  • Process check requests, invoices, and other arrangements required for support of department marketing activities.

  • Build and maintain marketing lists in the Firm's CRM system; provide reports on same as needed.

  • Update intranet content in the US to raise awareness of BD initiatives and opportunities.

  • Assist team members in the lateral integration/onboarding process as needed.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Up to two years of professional experience is preferred. Experience in professional services or law firms is a bonus.

  • High degree of intellectual curiosity for learning.

  • Motivated self-starter; quickly establishes trust and builds relationships with internal stakeholders by being responsive, proactive and curious.

  • Must be comfortable interacting with lawyers, other professionals and staff within the firm.

  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, hybrid/remote environment; demonstrates agility in responding to requests with accuracy and quality in a timely manner.

  • A problem solver who is detail-oriented and organized; ability to support multiple projects simultaneously and deal with ambiguity.

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite (including direct experience with PowerPoint and advanced functions within Excel).

  • Experience with CRM and experience management systems a plus.
