Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (Part-Time)

USC'sConfidential Advocacy Resources and Education Support Center (CARE-SC) within Counseling and Mental Health / Student Health seeks a licensed clinician to join a diverse and dynamic multidisciplinary team who are strongly committed to providing excellent clinical treatment and outreach services regarding gender equity, and power- and gender-based harm. We are seeking candidates who have expertise in the treatment of trauma, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault, as well as solid clinical generalist skills, outreach expertise, and the ability thrive in a collaborative, collegial, and professional environment.

This is apart-time clinicalfaculty position with an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and service assignment in Counseling and Mental Health / CARE-SC. Description of Counseling and Mental Health

USC Counseling and Mental Health(CMH) provides mental health services to students so that they may achieve their academic and personal goals. Services we provide include: individual and group counseling; assessment and referral to other professionals and institutions; crisis intervention (including some after-hours coverage); case management; biofeedback; psychiatric evaluations and medication follow-up; consultation; outreach and prevention; and training and supervision.

Description of CARE-SC

CARE-SC exists to facilitate the success of students by providing advocacy and confidential counseling to those who have experienced sexual/gender-based harm during their time at USC.

Through its educational programs, CARE-SC fosters a better understanding of sexual violence, relationship abuse, stalking, consent, and healthy relationships/sexuality. Above all, CARE-SC serves as a haven for students and provides opportunities to make change on campus, through its educational programs and peer outreach program, VOICE- Violence Outreach Intervention and Community Empowerment. CARE-SC fosters an environment that enriches the USC experience across lines of gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, class, ability and sexual orientation.

CARE-SC provides the following support:

• Serves as a safe, confidential space for survivors of sexual assault and other gender-related harm to receive counseling (crisis, individual, group) and advocacy.
• Connects students to community resources such as rape treatment centers or advocacy groups, campus accommodations (such as housing or academic support) and all reporting option such as USC's Title IX office and law enforcement.
• Offers educational programs that help prevent sexual violence and create healthy relationships (e.g., workshops and outreach programs).
• Collaborates with student groups and other campus offices committed to addressing gender-based harm/power-based control.

Job Accountabilities:

• Conducts individual assessment and diagnostic sessions. Provides referral, short term counseling and crisis intervention services as appropriate for the USC student population.
• Practices trauma informed care within a short-term model for USC students, particularly those experiencing gender based harm and sexual violence.
• Plans and implements outreach activities on consent, rape culture, healthy relationships, etc. Demonstrates creativity with reaching underrepresented populations such as the LGBTQ students; international students; or students of color.
• Assists in development of prevention, intervention, referral and outreach services, including stalking, domestic violence, and sexual assault awareness months.
• Supervises graduate student interns and collaborates with appropriate academic unit(s).
• Coordinates hourly professional staff. Provides administrative direction and clinical consultation. Conducts staff development activities.
• Develops and conducts seminars and related activities. Conducts training sessions with University administrators regarding gender-based harm.
• Assists in design of new training activities. Coordinates and supplements training activities provided by Departments and Schools.
• Participates and supports training programs and peer programs.
• Provides weekly after-hours coverage 3-4 weeks per year.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Marriage & Family Therapy or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology
• Must be licensed in the State of California
• Expertise in treating sexual violence, trauma, or issues of gender or power-based harm
• Expertise in short-term treatment, including: brief psychotherapy, stabilization and referral of serious mental illness, and crisis intervention
• Multicultural competency in working with students of color, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ students, and international students
• Resilient, self-aware, and can thrive in a fast paced, demanding environment
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to professional integrity
• Desire to continue to grow as a professional and committed to excellence

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience in college counseling centers, rape treatment centers, or domestic violence organizations
• Excellent trauma-informed clinical training and diagnostic skills
• Experience with reporting to law enforcement or working with university Title IX offices
• Foreign language skills are welcome
