Safety The Bale Opening/Bin Blending Operator follows prescribed safety procedures (Ref. SHMS 004). Responsibilities The nonwoven operator is responsible for the following: Keeping hands clean when handling fabric. Clean line between lot changes. USE SKYJACK FOR CLEANING AND NEEDLE BOARD CHANGES. Assist with cleaning/repairing needleboards. Change needleboards in machines. Felt to Universal: Change All Boards in Loom #1 and Top Boards in Loom #2 Universal to Felt: Change all boards in Loom #1 and Top Boards in Loom #3 Set up control panel for lot to be processed and record any adjustments needed (Ref. NW FORM 1). Start up nonwoven line. Perform quality checks make adjustments to process as allowed. Remove rolls from conveyor, remove quality samples from fabric, package rolls, print label and apply to plastic package, and transport roll to dock area. Insert tubes on winder rollers and load into winder, set winder doff length. Load Scrim Feed system as required by product type. Continually monitor fabric as it runs through the process every 15 minutes. Conduct quality inspections every hour. Record results on NW Form 8 During Quality Inspection: If Defect is Found, Follow NW WKINST 15 Handle and bale waste materials Perform preventive maintenance on machinery. Maintain MPS process and participate in Daily Team Maintenance. (Ref. NW FORM 6) General housekeeping. Perform lift truck duties (moving finish rolls, scrim, waste) REFER TO SPI 55 Before Loading and Unloading any trailer, you must inspect trailer for damages and fill out the form on page 6 of SPI 55 Work in teams to ensure that all machines are operating in an efficient manner and producing a quality product. Shut down line at the end of a production run by stopping machine and disabling all drivers. Suggest improvements in work methods by determining the root cause of specific problems and developing solutions to avoid reoccurrences. Maintains production reports and efficiency records. Ensure all Safety Chains and Guards are in place while machine is running Cut a 3 feet swatch as required for inspection. Clean the Non Woven Line every 3rd. doff and record "Cleaning Doff" on the Alma Non Woven Roll Log next to the roll number. On cleaning doff the following items must be cleaned: Remove Needles and Tags from Magnets Clean Tags out of Looms, Top and Bottom Stitching Plates Clean 2nd. Loom Top Entry Fans every 2nd. doff for Universal and once every shift for Felt. Record line settings every two hours on set up sheet. Measure and record in "Excel Database" roll width on every roll of YC 205, 15 pick Universal backing. Ensure ink cartridges are removed from print heads while not running felt. Environmental Responsibilities All associate's jobs that have been identified as having potential impact on the wastewater activities of the Alma Plant shall be familiar with the chemicals associated with the performance of these jobs (MSDS) and shall not discharge to drain any such chemicals without Environmental approval or as specified in their ISO 9000 operating procedures. All associates should understand that the deviation from these procedures could have a State and/or Federal regulatory impact in Alma Plant's Wastewater Operating Permit. Authorized Shut Down The operator is authorized to shut down a Twister if it is unsafe or producing off quality (Ref. SPI 1 in the SPI manual), such as wet yarn, stretched yarn, pulled fibers or any other unusual occurrence.
