We currently have an opening for an Industrial Automation & Robotics Technician at our Crestline (Mansfield), Ohio plant!



Position Description and Responsibilities



The Industrial Automation & Robotics Technician will work to develop and improve machine and process concepts along with Manufacturing / Production Engineering peers. He/She will debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability and yield to support a value-added production facility. Candidate will create and support a robust system and optimize layout of electrical/pneumatic schematics. He/She will program and trouble shoot all controls components including PLC, safety devices and robots from power-on to debug with ongoing support.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities




  • Participate in initial equipment conceptual development and carefully balance product specifications, process control requirements, layout complexity, cost, quality and lead time limits.
  • Layout new industrial electrical control panels and create electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics.
  • Architect, write and debug PLC ladder logic with and emphasis on generating code that is organized structured, documented, maintainable and reusable.
  • Implement control reliable safety systems for safeguarding robots, conveyors and other high volume manufacturing equipment.
  • Introduce automated processes into production and train Maintenance and Production Teams to support after deployment into production.
  • Debug and optimize automated processes to maximize cycle time, improve availability and yield.
  • Working closely with a team of technicians, engineers and mechanics to design, implement, maintain and improve our state-of-the-art processes and serve our customers.



Basic Qualifications




  • A basic understanding of the general principles of automation, automated equipment and robotics plus knowledge of the use of this equipment as it applies to line operation.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in automation controls or similar work with high volume automation and/or electro-mechanical production systems.
  • Associate's degree in electrical engineering, controls and computer systems, mechatronics engineering, automation engineering or equivalent degree is preferred, but equivalent experience may be substituted and considered.
  • Two (2) years of previous maintenance technician, industrial electrician or related experience required; five (5) years of experience preferred.

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with operators, peers, management and vendors.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to work independently and support projects to established timelines.



Physical Requirements, Safety and Work Environment




  • Performs duties within normal manufacturing environmental conditions
  • May work in warm or cold conditions
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Associate must follow posted security procedures at all times
  • Associate must follow all PPE requirements
