While no guarantee of future employment, an internship with TBI offers students from a wide range of backgrounds a broad look at all it takes to fulfill our unique place in the state's criminal justice system. The TBI Internship opportunity is a 10-week summer program, June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026. This program is designed to introduce aspiring TBI agents to Aviation special operations. Interns will learn about Airborne Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance as it relates to law enforcement. Interns will gain meaningful exposure to real-world public-safety missions while observing professional aircrew in action. The Aviation Division provides statewide aviation support to local, state, and federal agencies. Our mission includes: * Safety overwatch for law-enforcement operations * Manhunts and fugitive searches * Missing-person investigations * Aerial mapping of natural disasters and critical incidents * Transport agents for critical case interviews, interrogations, and evidence collection The division delivers real-time intelligence, advanced aerial imagery, and rapid response capabilities to enhance public safety across Tennessee. Key Responsibilities: The internship provides a hands-on, observational look into law-enforcement aviation operations. Interns can expect to: * Respond with the crew on select missions to observe real-time coordination * Observe the mission camera system, including subject tracking and intelligence collection * Shadow pilots during pre-flight planning, including weather review, route selection, and risk assessment * Gain exposure to routine hangar operations, equipment checks, and mission documentation Academic Year Preference: Internships are open to college juniors, seniors, or those pursuing post-graduate education.
