Position Summary:

The Lactation Specialist is a clinically competent health care professional, delivers lactation assessment and instruction to obstetrical inpatients and outpatients. Effectively interacts with patients and other health team members, while maintaining standards of the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultants.

Position Details:



  • RN Lactation Specialist - Maternal Child Unit
  • Three weekends within a four-week schedule
  • 12-hour day shift, part-time, benefitted position



Education/Experience:



  • BSN Preferred.
  • RN's without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 6 months and complete degree within 4 years of their start date.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of maternal child health care and practice as breastfeeding consultant preferred.


Licensure/Certification:



  • Current Maryland RN license or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.
  • CPR required.
  • Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultants, (IBLC). Continuing education in breastfeeding to obtain and maintain certification status.
