Moog's Military Aircraft Group is searching for a Quality Engineering Manager. Reporting to our Torrance Site Operations Director, you will have a 9/80 schedule option and work on-site at our aerospace plant in Torrance, CA.

As the Quality Engineering Manager, you will lead the quality engineering function to ensure the highest standards of product and process quality. You'll oversee a team of quality engineers and partner closely with supply chain, receiving inspection, product engineering, and factory operations. You will develop and implement quality control systems, manage key projects, drive continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with customer, industry, and regulatory requirements.

This role involves frequent collaboration with customer quality representatives and may include interaction with Government defense contract representatives and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) representatives. Success requires excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

To be considered for the role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of relevant experiencein quality engineering/management within manufacturing environments.

  • Strong knowledge of quality control principles, systems, and practices, including regulatory and customer compliance.

  • Proficiency in statistical methods and problem solving, including DOE, SPC, and data analysis tools.

  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing teams.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions and with external stakeholders.

  • Experience with budgets and resource planning; strong organizational and decision-making abilities.

  • Proficiency in relevant software/tools, such as statistical analysis packages, QMS systems, and common engineering productivity tools.

  • People leadership experience

Preferred Experience

  • Experience inaerospace, defense, or highly regulated industries

  • Familiarity withCOPQ, NOE reduction, and NPI readiness frameworks

  • Prior engagement withFAA or Government/defense contract quality requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team-based skills; ability to influence

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry

  • Experience with SAP

As a Quality Engineering Manager, you will...

  • Lead and manage the quality engineering teamto achieve project goals, deadlines, and quality objectives.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control systemsand procedures across operations.

  • Ensure compliancewith applicable industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory bodies.

  • Plan and administer cost-effective inspection strategiesaligned with appropriate risk levels.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspectionsto maintain and elevate quality standards.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiativesusing data and cross-functional collaboration across supply chain, manufacturing, and engineering.

  • Analyze quality metricsto identify trends and improvement opportunities; own targets for Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), Non-Occurrence Events (NOE) reduction, and New Product Introduction (NPI) readiness assessments.

  • Provide technical guidanceon problem solving and statistical methods; train teams in Design of Experiments (DOE) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).

  • Direct engineering studies and investigationsinto failures and significant quality issues; ensure timely root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions.

  • Represent the Quality functionin customer and supplier engagements, contract reviews, fact-finding, negotiations, and management reviews.

  • Manage budgets and resources effectively, including annual operating and capital planning.

  • Recruit, develop, appraise, and motivatea high-performing, integrity-driven quality engineering team.

  • Coordinate departmental activitieswith other engineering, manufacturing, and quality groups to ensure alignment and execution.

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $130,000.00-$180,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
