The position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Success Programs in the College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences (CNAS) Undergraduate Academic Advising Center (UAAC). Serving as the First-Year Student Success Coordinator this position will be responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of student service programs (e.g. Learning Communities) which focus on university transition, research engagement, outreach, and professional development for student success with an emphasis on the first-year student population. The First-Year Student Success Coordinator provides opportunities for undergraduates to connect with peers, faculty, and staff through a variety of opportunities which include overseeing and managing learning communities (e.g. NASC091), student success workshops, and community building activities. Activities will also include coordination, facilitation and/or instruction of learning communities course(s) throughout the academic year. This position plays a role in hiring, training, and supervising peer mentors. For example, supervises and trains peer mentors and/or student assistant(s) to assist in facilitating programs, implementing workshops/events and assessing program effectiveness. The learning communities serve over 1500 (or 90%) of the incoming CNAS First-year student population. Activities include: instruction of freshman transition course (NASC 091) discussion sections, creation and facilitation of academic success workshops and community-building activities, collaboration with CNAS faculty and other campus partners like Admissions, Registrar, Academic Resource Center (ARC), Career Services, and Living Learning Communities. The coordinator is responsible for consulting on learning communities, including creation of course cohorts in partnership with the CNAS enrollment management center (EMC), and enrollment management for students served. Finally, the incumbent will be responsible for problem solving to maintain the effectiveness of the programs, data collection and assessment and submitting reports to high-level university constituents and/or external evaluators producing program effectiveness reports for granting agencies and serves as the primary program liaison. Other activities include acting as a CNAS liaison to campus partners (e.g. EMC, Registrar, Academic Resources Center, Living Learning Communities, Career Services, etc.) and K-14 students interested in applying to UCR. The coordinator will communicate program outcomes and reports to high-level university constituents and/or external evaluators. The position is intended to be 60% program development and coordination, 20% student staff hiring and supervision, 15% program management, and 5% other duties as assigned.

The full salary range for the First-Year Student Success Coordinator, CNAS is $66,500 - $118,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $66,500 - $70,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
