Job Description

This position is responsible for many of the day-to-day finance activities including but not limited to month end close and inventory and costing systems for the Carlton Forge Group.

The Accounting Supervisor oversees daily accounting operations within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely analysis that supports production, supply chain, and leadership decision-making. The ideal candidate brings solid foundation in cost accounting, inventory management, and team leadership, along with the ability to thrive in a highly technical, process-driven industrial setting. The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Controller and is a critical member of the Finance team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee daily accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll processing.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthend close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records for manufacturing operations, including workinprocess (WIP), scrap, overhead absorption, and production variances
  • Lead cost accounting processes including standard cost updates, bill of materials (BOM) reviews, and routing accuracy.
  • Analyze production costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead allocation.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain teams to understand cost drivers and improve financial performance.
  • Support annual budgeting and periodic forecasting for manufacturing operations
  • Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventory audits.
  • Monitor and reconcile raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventory.
  • Ensure proper tracking and capitalization of fixed assets, tooling, and equipment.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff (A/P, A/R, general staff), provide training, performance feedback, and workload coordination.
  • Strengthen internal controls and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Support ERP system enhancements, data integrity initiatives, and crossfunctional process alignment.
  • Support compliance with corporate policy including SOX.
  • Work with internal and outside auditors concerning financial reporting.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational innovation and regularly interact with business owners and senior level management on accounting matters
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

      • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (advanced degree, CPA, or CMA preferred).
      • 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment (multi-site support, forging, metals, machining, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred)
      • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and standard costing.
      • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead accounting staff.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
      • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
      • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
      • Collaborative mindset with a hands-on approach to supporting operations.

        For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $87500 to $110000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 3X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
