The Production Planner is responsible for creating and managing the production schedule for all product lines in printing and slitting, ensuring efficiency and meeting customer delivery demands. Ensures all manufactured, purchased parts, and materials are available for production to meet customer delivery requirements in accordance with company policies and procedures. Oversees the warehouse/shipping department. This position reports to the plant's General Manager and is a part of the Asheville Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:






    • Develops and maintains the production schedule as efficiently as possible, while meeting operational and customer lead times to ensure shipping dates according to customer orders. Including, but not limited to:






    • Checking the schedule against the status of required materials, tools, art, and equipment to ensure the job can run as scheduled.




    • Grouping jobs to gain equipment efficiency and run times.




    • Conferring with department managers to determinethe status of assigned projects.




    • Updating production schedules daily with input from operations for efficiency improvements.




    • Expediting operations that delay schedules and alter schedule to meet unforeseen conditions.




    • Utilizes customer delivery schedule, CFOE, and IMR for demand requirements




    • Creates P&G jobs and P&G forecast demand jobs









  • Supports the installation and onboarding of new assets & equipment.
  • Suggests or recommends when overtime is needed to meet customer demand and/or plant goals.
  • Adds customer requested trials into schedule without impacting other ship dates, or notifying customer service if changes need made.
  • Leads daily production schedule meeting
  • Communicates regularly with customer service, sales, prepress, and production regarding new jobs that may require realigning the schedule to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain adequate raw material, foil, core sticks,and case inventory levels while taking into consideration supplier lead times.
  • Work with suppliers and/or MCC procurement for supply chain issues to be resolved.
  • Responsible for monitoring and minimizing aged Raw Material inventory.
  • Uses good judgment and "best for business" tactics when dealing with troubleshooting problems and opportunities.
  • Applies lean philosophy through Kaizen event participation, improvement activities, and lean initiatives to support corporate objectives.
  • Participates in Root Cause Countermeasure activities to identify areas where improvement is needed and put a plan in motion to address those areas.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts in the value stream to ensure waste reduction, cost savings, increase speed, and on-time delivery.
  • Attends and participates on customer calls supplying information as needed or requested.
  • Collects and prepares data for end of month reporting and presentations, including but not limited to, Hoshin projects, Wave projects and MOR presentation.
  • Directly supervises and manages the warehouse/shipping department and warehouse/shipping department employees.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate physical inventory counts, warehouse housekeeping, including chemical care, forklift care, and daily/weekly forklift inspections, racks, docks, etc.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, and operates daily with a Safety First mindset.
  • Duties may be changed, or additional duties assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.




Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years scheduling experience in the label/printing industry, or 5 or more years in a manufacturing capacity required. An equitable combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Must have significant product/process knowledge.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of, or ability to learn, the process flow and capabilities of MCC assets.
  • Must have good computer skills, including the ability to use and operate Microsoft Office Software, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel, and have the ability to learn and operate company-specialized software programs.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math skills required to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as to read and comprehend measurements on a ruler.
  • Must have the ability to sort and analyze data, digital and printed, to determine trends and develop action plans based on results
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to self-manage.
  • Able to work well under pressure and adjust well to change.
  • Able to positively influence others and work well with various levels of employees.
  • Good business sense and ability to see the big picture.
  • The ability to devise multiple alternative solutions based on limited assumptions and information
  • Must be able to uphold MCC Culture and True Color expectations in all interactions with peers, leadership, and staff.
  • This position works in both an office and a production environment.
  • May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time.
  • Intermittently, may answer the telephone. Frequently writes or uses a keyboard to communicate through written means.
  • Some walking and lifting up to 25lbs may be required.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, whereas the production environment will be moderate to high (hearing protection is required and provided).
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties in the plant.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles/dust.
  • Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Attend plant safety dinners and plant shift meetings as needed.
  • This position is not a "remote position."
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
