Buckeye Partners is currently seeking a Manager, Property Tax experience in oil and gas related industry with substantial experience in all aspects of property tax services to join our team!

Role Summary:

The Manager, Property Tax role will lead multi-state property tax compliance and valuation initiatives. This role ensures accurate assessments, minimizes tax risk, and supports strategic business decisions across our growing operations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:



  • Tax Strategy & Analysis: Evaluate ad valorem tax laws to identify planning opportunities for assets,
    acquisitions, and projects.
  • Valuation: Review property tax valuations for complex assets, ensuring accuracy, regulatory
    compliance, and identifying any opportunities for tax savings.
  • Representation & Negotiation: Advocate for the company in negotiations with taxing authorities,
    appraisers, and review boards to secure fair valuations and resolve disputes.
  • Legislative Monitoring: Track state tax law changes, analyze impacts, and communicate findings to
    leadership.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Prepare multi-state property tax returns, estimated payments, extensions,
    and quarterly provisions with accurate reconciliations.
  • Due Diligence: Assess property tax implications for mergers and acquisitions.
    Audit Support: Represent the company during audits and defend positions claimed on returns.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement efficiencies in tax processes.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead ad valorem tax budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • And other duties as assigned.



Position Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. (required)

  • 8+ years in oil and gas or related industry with extensive property tax expertise.





Technical skills:



  • Multi-state property tax compliance and valuation appeals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
  • Familiarity with itamlink software (preferred).



Certificates & Licenses:



  • CMI designation preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Essential Functions:

  • This role requires the ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • This position requires compliance with all personnel policies.



Physical & Safety Requirements:



  • This person must perform duties that require considerable use of arms and extended hours of sitting.
  • Required use of all ergonomically safe equipment in performance of job.
  • Normal office environment
