POSITION SUMMARY: This position is a combo role between CNA and Unit Clerk, as needed work in either position. Both positions responsibilities encompass compliance with The Joint Commission standards, CMS, OSHA, IDPH and state regulations. The Certified Nursing Assistant interacts directly with patients, providing comfort and transportation, monitoring their vital sign, assisting with daily living needs, and assisting the nurses in the treatment and care of the patients in accordance with the established methods, protocols, policies and procedures of the hospital. The Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) supports patient care delivery by providing clerical duties of various patient care units. His/her primary responsibility is to coordinate patient care across many functional departments. The Health Unit Coordinator is proficient at reading basic single lead telemetry monitoring and can identify basic life-threatening arrhythmias. CNA POSITION QUALIFICATIONS - Education/Licensure or credentials Required: Must have completed a Nursing Assistant Program and be certified in the state of Illinois. Preferred: Preferred Level: High School Diploma or GED. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered - Skill/Experience/Competency CPR certified Previous Medical/Surgical experience desirable. Must show competency of those skills designated by the Manager of Inpatient Services by written exam and/or demonstration. Must have good communication skills. Ability to work under pressure The ability to operate designated computer equipment. Is pro-active in seeking out additional tasks when assignments are complete. Accountable for own conduct and promotes good working relationships among staff and between other disciplines and departments. Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication. CNA WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Work Environment Enjoy working with people and cooperatively with other hospital staff. CNAs provide essential direct patient care, working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment. They assist with activities of daily life like bathing and feeding, take vital signs, and report changes in a patient's condition. Exposure to patient care can lead to emotional exhaustion. - Physical Demands The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Requires long periods of standing at times. Requires quick movement, agility and fast response time. Requires direct patient contact with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious disease. Frequent repositioning of patients. Ability to perform CPR - a strenuous activity. Constant kneeling, stooping, bending, twisting and occasional need to lift patients Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs. HUC POSITION QUALIFICATIONS - Education/Licensure or credentials Required: Must be a high-school graduate or successfully completed the GED. BLS certified Successfully completes the basic arrhythmia class. - Skill/Experience/Competency Previous experience in clerical or receptionist position helpful. Hospital experience or satisfactory completion of hospital training program preferred. Must have good communication skills. Accountable for own conduct and promotes good working relationships among staff and between other disciplines and departments. Is computer competent and able to troubleshoot system problems should they arise. Demonstrates the ability to work accurately and effectively in oral and written directions and communication. HUC WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS - Work Environment Work in administrative settings, often at a desk within a patient care unit or ward, interacting with medical staff, patients, and visitors. This environment can be fast-paced and sometimes stressful, requiring strong organizational and time management skills. Enjoy working with people and cooperatively with other hospital staff. - Physical Demands The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job Requires quick movement, agility and fast response time.
