Salary: $93,825 to $117,275 yearly

Purpose of Position:

Provide safety and health leadership and strategic direction for Foster Farms live operations,
including ranches, feed mills, hatcheries, live haul, and truck shops. As a key member of the Safety
Team, this position supports and advises operational management on safety systems, compliance,
and continuous improvement across all live operations sites.
Essential Job Functions:
* Develop and implement proactive safety and health strategies tailored to the unique risks of
live operations (ranches, feed mills, hatcheries, live haul, truck shops), ensuring all locations
remain safe and operational in compliance California OSHA.
* Collaborate with site managers and teams to enhance and sustain a strong safety culture,
supporting Foster Farms Safety Program and driving best practice sharing across all live
operations.
* Facilitate and monitor safety programs for each operational area; recommend, design, and
implement new programs to prevent injuries and minimize losses, with special attention to
field-based and mobile work environments.
* Support and drive improvement of leading and lagging safety indicators (e.g., near-miss
reporting, safety hazard observations, incident rates, lost time injuries, etc.) to measure and
enhance safety performance across all live operations.
* Utilize and maintain the incident management system to ensure timely and accurate
reporting, investigation, and follow-up of all safety incidents, near-misses, and hazards.
* Conduct regular audits, inspections, and spot checks at all live operations sites, including
equipment, working conditions, and vehicle safety; maintain OSHA files and support
documentation.
* Ensure compliance with all permits, state and federal regulations, and company policies
across diverse operational settings; report potential violations and recommend corrective
actions.
* Analyze accident and incident statistics from all live operations to identify trends and
implement targeted safety improvements.
* Communicate safety procedure changes to all business partners and operational teams;
ensure health and safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed and updated as
required by regulations or operational changes.
* Lead safety inspections and procedural audits, take immediate corrective action when
necessary, and provide training on corrective actions to affected team members.
* Investigate all safety-related incidents and near-misses across live operations, complete
necessary reports required by the safety department, and drive corrective action
implementation.
* Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed county, state, and industry-specific
safety and legal regulations relevant to poultry live operations.
* Develop, deliver, and track training for personnel on key safety topics including:
o Tractor and equipment safety
o Ergonomics and injury prevention
o Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
o Machine guarding
o Confined space entry and rescue
o Chemical safety and hazard communication
o Personal protective equipment (PPE) use
o Emergency response and evacuation
o Safe animal handling and biosecurity
o CPR and first aid
o Transportation safety
o Powered industrial vehicle safety

* Support plant operations when needed, providing safety and health expertise and assistance
to ensure operational continuity and compliance.
* Drive and support safety committee meetings, fostering engagement, accountability, and
continuous improvement in safety practices across all live operations.
