About the Institute:
The mission of the Institute for the Arts and Humanities (
IAH) is to empower faculty to achieve their full potential by creating community and cultivating leadership. The
IAH advances, advocates, and amplifies the arts and humanities through its Faculty Fellows Program; and by sponsoring conferences, lectures, and public conversations. It trains and supports current and emerging university leaders through the Academic Leadership Program. The Institute promotes community through its Faculty Programs, which build mentoring networks for faculty at all stages of their academic careers.

The team comprises eight collaborative, hard working, and mission driven members. We work together on numerous projects, programs, and events to enhance the support we give to faculty. The team is diverse and intellectually curious. We keep meetings casual but efficient. We provide space for everyone to express themselves and make sure everyone is heard. | Position Summary |
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Development Coordinator will provide administrative support for the development operations of the
IAH. The position will be responsible for fundraising administrative support, weekly stewardship, donor/volunteer communications, advisory board relations support, advisory board meeting and development event coordination, gift processing, data management, solicitation crafting and planning, data management, expense tracking, development operations scheduling, and day-to-day office management. The position will also serve as a key liaison with the Arts and Sciences Foundation Office regarding gift processing including a focus on the annual fund, gift/pledge corrections, solicitation, mailings, and stewardship reporting.
This role is vital to meet the IAH's fundraising goals and continued successful stewardship of large donors to the University. The vast majority of
IAH funding comes from provide gifts and endowments with an annual fund goal of $300,000 along with a campaign goal of $20M.
Detailed Duties:
Communication:
- Oversee the strategic development, design, and implementation of the annual fund solicitation program
- Direct mail fundraising, including, drafting solicitation content, and vendor and design management
- Create campaigns for special giving days
- Write, edit, and maintain sections of IAH website
- Design development related content for IAH e-news and manage e-news software lists for development
- Develop a calendar for the annual fund solicitation process
- Evaluate the program and survey constituencies
- Establish new ways of engaging and growing the number of donors
Gift processing, development database entry, reports, research, and analysis:
- Monitor monthly progress of annual fund results compared to prior months/years/goals
- Oversee ROI of fundraising methods
- Draft fundraising plans
- Input, update and manipulate donor data
- Update and maintain gift records
- Establish routine for producing and interpreting standard and custom reports
- Manage all gift processing, donor acknowledgment and stewardship
- Coordinate the College's Annual Report process
- Attend UNC donor database training to serve as an expert for the IAH
Development travel, advisory board, development-related events, and programs:
- Schedule development meetings, travel arrangement and execute off-site development event
- Coordinate the design, organization, compiling, editing, and distribution of all advisory board meeting materials
- Draft advisory board content
- Support the Event Planner with event logistics for on-site development and Advisory Board events
- Correspond with donors regarding event information and invitations
- Develop a thorough understanding of IAH's mission and programmatic efforts
Administrative support:
- Maintain overall development operations annual calendar
- Maintain and document all development, donor, and data processes in the IAH development manual
- Manage the Director of Development's calendar
- Process and track all development related expense
- Provide primary phone and email communication
- Take notes/minutes at all development related activities and meetings
- Maintain inventory and purchase development materials and supplies
- Safekeep confidential information
- Perform other duties as requested

| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
Preferred qualifications include prior experience in fundraising in a higher education or non-profit setting. Preferred knowledge of fundraising databases (i.e. Blackbaud, Raiser's Edge). Strong analytical, creative, and strategic thinking skills. |
