Benefits Offered: Vision, Medical, Life, Dental, 401K Summary The Distinguished Cloud Architect is the senior-most technical authority responsible for defining and driving OneStream's cloud architecture vision, platform modernization strategy, and evolution to a fully cloud-native, SaaS-driven ecosystem. This role shapes long-term architectural direction across the entire technology stack-including platform services, cloud infrastructure, security, Marketplace extensibility, data, and global operations. This leader influences engineering, Product, cloud operations, security, and executive teams to ensure OneStream delivers a resilient, performant, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud platform trusted by enterprise customers worldwide. The Distinguished Cloud Architect sets foundational patterns, guides major architectural transformations, and mentors senior technical leaders. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Cloud Architecture Vision & Strategy
- Define the multi-year cloud architecture strategy that enables OneStream's transformation to a fully SaaS, cloud-native platform.
- Establish and maintain architectural principles, patterns, frameworks, and governance models that ensure consistency, reliability, security, and scale across all products and services.
- Evaluate and guide decisions on global infrastructure, compute layers, storage, networking, resiliency, multi-region deployment, and sovereign cloud support.
Platform Modernization & Technical Leadership
- Drive modernization of the OneStream platform, including containerization, microservices, distributed systems design, and cloud-native application architectures.
- Lead architectural design of core platform services, APIs, data layers, extensibility frameworks, and Marketplace infrastructure.
- Define and guide execution for foundational capabilities such as multi-tenancy, observability, security, event-driven workflows, and global high availability.
Azure Architecture & Cloud Engineering
- Serve as the organization's leading expert in Azure services, cloud infrastructure, AKS, compute/storage optimization, and enterprise cloud security.
- Architect scalable, reliable, cost-efficient cloud environments aligned with SaaS delivery and operational excellence.
- Partner with Cloud Engineering and DevOps on CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, governance, and cloud lifecycle management.
Performance, Scalability & Reliability
- Define performance engineering, capacity planning, and scalability strategies for large-scale, mission-critical cloud workloads.
- Establish high-availability, disaster recovery, and resiliency patterns for OneStream's global cloud platform.
- Ensure platform architecture anticipates future expansion, regulatory requirements, and customer scale.
Security, Compliance & Governance
- Partner with Security to embed secure-by-design principles, identity management, data protection, and compliance across all cloud services.
- Guide adoption of governance standards for cloud usage, resource provisioning, and operational controls.
- Define architectural guardrails and enforce consistency across engineering organizations.
Cross-Functional Influence & Leadership
- Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, product teams, and engineering directors.
- Lead architectural reviews, technology evaluations, and long-term planning across the organization.
- Mentor and develop senior engineers, principal engineers, and emerging architects.
- Represent OneStream's cloud architecture vision internally and externally, when appropriate.
Operational Excellence
- Influence cloud operations strategy, monitoring frameworks, incident response patterns, and reliability engineering practices.
- Provide oversight and guidance on major outages, root cause analysis, and architectural improvements.
- Collaborate with Finance to model infrastructure costs, optimize cloud spend, and plan future investment.
Required Education and Experience
- 15+ years of experience in software architecture, cloud engineering, or distributed systems leadership.
- Proven experience architecting large-scale enterprise SaaS or cloud-native platforms.
- Deep expertise in Azure, Kubernetes/AKS, container orchestration, distributed systems, and cloud networking.
- Expert knowledge of compute, storage, database technologies, scaling strategies, and operational engineering.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, compliance frameworks, and identity management.
- Experience guiding multi-year modernization or platform migration initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive levels and lead across multiple engineering organizations.
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Experience with finance/CPM platforms or complex enterprise ecosystems.
- Background designing extensibility frameworks, Marketplace solutions, or developer platform ecosystems.
- Experience with multi-region, sovereign cloud, regulated-industry deployments.
- Prior experience mentoring principal-level engineers and architects.
Role Success Criteria
- A unified cloud architecture strategy that accelerates OneStream's SaaS evolution.
- Adoption of scalable, secure, cloud-native patterns across engineering organizations.
- Measurable improvements in platform reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
- Strong cross-functional alignment around architecture, cloud governance, and modernization.
- Development of the next generation of technical leaders and architects.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- At the outset, the Distinguished Cloud Architect role has no formal supervisory responsibilities. The position functions as an individual technical leader-providing architectural direction, technical mentorship, and strategic influence across engineering teams without direct line management.
- As OneStream's cloud platform expands, the organization may introduce direct supervisory responsibilities based on business need, team size, and architectural scope. This shift would be intentional and phased, based on strategy-not an automatic expectation.
