What you will do

The Deep Draw/Udylite Operator works under the supervisor in the Fabrication Unit. Sets up and maintains the deep draw, trimming, piercing, Udylite system and grit blast machines. This position requires Associates placed in the position to successfully complete specific training. These training requirements can be located on the Marinette Operations Training Matrix.

The Automation Technician reports to the Standard Products Production Supervisor. The primary responsibility of the Machine Operator III (Automation Technician - Valve Assembly) is to maintain equipment up-time by ensuring proper materials are at all the machine location and ensure fixtures and other wear items are changed within the proper intervals; providing a continuous supply of valve assemblies to the production lines to meet production requirements. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, daily calibration of test equipment, quality inspections and testing of hourly test samples and recording required data from the assembly equipment and subsequent testing. The Automation Technician is responsible for daily preventative and predictive maintenance, in addition to following all safety, setup and work procedures. Daily interaction with supervisors, engineering, and management is required. This position requires Associates placed in the position to successfully complete specific training. These training requirements can be located on the Marinette Operations Training Matrix. The company reserves the right to rotate employees to other departments or work assignments within the organization as needed based upon skill set, production needs, etc.

How you will do it

  • Sets up deep draw machine by inserting proper tooling such as dies, spacers and rams, using an overhead hoist and attaching electrical switches.
  • Starts up deep draw machine by activating proper buttons on control panel. Check proper oil levels and machine operating pressures.
  • Inserts blanks into loading slot while visually checking for defective material.
  • Inspects condition of shells to assure quality and to prevent metal build-up on dies.
  • Cleans and checks condition of press and dies, making adjustments when necessary, such as polishing dies, punch and other tooling with air driven hand tool and cleaning agent.
  • Changes or removes die sets or other tooling on the deep draw, trimming machine and piercing machine.
  • Performs some maintenance duties such as removing and replacing filter screens, replacing punch lights and removing oil and sludge from the deep draw machine.
  • Adjusts conveyor system to accommodate shell size with small hand tools and hoist to position guides, electrical push rods and chutes. Occasionally fabricates guides.
  • Sets up trim machine by inserting proper tooling and adjusting electrical switches, machine speed, both rams and gear sets according to size shell being trimmed.
  • Operates trimming machine, re-adjusts cutters, guides or other tooling when jam-ups occur. Check shells to insure proper length. Removes excess metal from trimmer into boxes.
  • Makes minor adjustments to machine and performs troubleshooting procedures such as replacing dull cutting blades or adjusting switches.
  • Sets up piercing machine by inserting proper head dies, adjusting index speed and checking hydraulic oil level and pressure.
  • Operates piercing machine by inserting proper SY shell into machine, allows machine to pierce hole in shell during indexing cycle, and removes shell from machine at end of operation cycle. Troubleshoot when malfunction occurs.
  • Starts up Udylite System by opening proper valves on steam lines to heat solutions in dip tanks. Open proper valves to fill tanks to correct level.
  • Assures racks are in proper position and time cycle is correct before engaging proper buttons on electrical control panel that starts automatic dipping operation.
  • Checks temperature of various solutions with thermometer.
  • Observes sequence of automatic operation to assure proper functioning.
  • Visually inspects to insure proper cleaning, lubricant coating of blanks or rejection of defective blanks.
  • Using recorded test titration results as a guide, adjusts dip tank solutions to proper strengths and/or levels, such as degreasers, neutralizers and lubricants.
  • Performs maintenance duties such as cleaning the tanks heating coils.
  • Starts up and makes adjustments to grit blast machine to wash and blast required size SY shell blanks.
  • Loads blanks from pallet to load cradle and starts cycle.
  • Monitors operation for proper cleaning and blasting of various size discs according to written instructions and setup sheets.
  • On occasion may be required to perform material handling duties to move shells and discs to and from work area.
  • Supporting the training and development of peers within the organization.
  • Perform housekeeping and other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be 18 years of age and have a HS Diploma or equivalent. Good Judgment. Most duties require standing and walking. Able to continuously handle 3-10-pound blanks and shells. Able to bend and work in awkward positions. Prefer related experience with computerized automation equipment. Prefer experience setting up and operating semi- and fully automated machines. Knowledge of basic mechanics and mathematics; with demonstrated analytical skills. Experience with testing and gauging equipment; including the maintenance of the equipment. Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance tasks and equipment setups. Ability to read and interpret prints, work instructions, setup instructions, control plans, and other required instructional information. Demonstrated ability to complete all required documentation and communicate effectively with supervision, engineering, and management. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a team environment. Demonstrated computer skills and experience with software packages. Must be willing to cross train in all other machine Operator III roles.

  • Ability to recognize chemical hazardous labels.
  • Spill management and clean-up.
  • Air shutoff locations.
  • Capability to follow satellite accumulation rules and requirements.
  • Proficiency to recognize hazardous wastes in your area and manage properly.

Hours 130pm to 930pm M-F w/OT as needed

HIRING SALARY RANGE: Training pay $29.52 Certified pay $31.54
