The Transporter II is a supervisory-level position, responsible for the day-to-day workload of Transporter l's. The Transporter II is responsible for coordinating safe transportation of patients within hospital established timeframe.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assigns and dispatches patient transporting activity to the Transporter I's using the Epic system (or other automated scheduling and tracking system for Patient Transporters).
  • Establishes work priorities based on the patient need, Nursing Unit requirements
  • Participates in the selection, evaluation and discipline of Transporter l's with regards to interviewing prospective employees, writing progress reports on the Transporter l's, counseling staff on specific problems, making recommendation for employment and termination of employees.
  • Tours the Medical Center and its entities periodically, covering each assigned area.
  • Observes the Transporter staff at work and ensures that instructions are followed and that safety requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • This includes the requirements that patients are properly secured in their wheelchair or carts, are transported slowly and on the correct side of the hallway.
  • Will participate in departmental continuous quality improvement initiatives, as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications Required:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. One (1) year (12 months) of experience working in a healthcare/ medical setting as a patient transporter
  3. Possession of a current/valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support CPR Certification.
