Overview
The Clinical Dietitian provides medical nutrition therapy to inpatients and nutritional expertise to all members of the health care team, outpatients and community groups. Qualifications Certifications: Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Registered Dietitian (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field Work Experience: Responsibilities Nutritional care for patients is provided in accordance with physician's orders and standards of quality nutritional care that appropriately meet age, psychosocial and physical needs of patients.
Reviews medical records for pertinent data. Develops and implements medical nutritional therapy and communicates with the health care team in a collaborative and multidisciplinary manner. Monitors nutrition care, identifies changes in the patient's nutritional status and monitors progress made Effectively and accurately utilizes the NCM and other nutrition related resources. Performs nutrition focused physical assessments on moderate and high nutrition risk patients Mentors students, interns and residents as assigned. Actively participates with other disciplines in unit interdisciplinary care conferences. Provision of nutrition education on prescribed diet, per established priority system, in order to improve patient knowledge/understanding of nutrition, diet therapy and compliance on prescribed diet. Education is provided to inpatients, outpatients, family members and the public through individual counseling, classes and community education. Effective communication with patients/families, department managers, supervisors, coordinators, peers, staff and other health care professionals in a positive and results-oriented fashion. Provides continual monitoring of patients on assigned nursing units to ensure quality of nutrition care services. Serves as an educational preceptor to dietetic interns and nutrition students. Per the scope of the MNT policy, orders diets, supplements, nutrition support, vitamins/minerals and labs as indicated. Supportive of department efforts to ensure compliance with department standards, policies and procedures as well as DNV and local health department regulations. Supports system safety efforts by practicing hand hygiene as indicated, using patient identifiers and by utilizing the safety event reporting system. Participates in departments PI program by accepting and completing assignments; working to evaluate all processes and resolves identified criterion in order to meet standards for quality and appropriateness of patient care. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $26.1per hour - $43.59per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
