Job Description

The University of Missouri Department of Athletics is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to support its Football program. This position is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses for football student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Injury Evaluation, Treatment and Rehabilitation (30%)

* Evaluate athletic injuries and acute medical conditions.
* Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation programs.
* Administer therapeutic modalities and manual therapy.
* Track rehabilitation progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
* Communicate return-to-play status with coaching and medical staff.

2. Injury Prevention and Athlete Wellness (25%)

* Design and implement injury prevention programs specific to football demands.
* Conduct pre-participation screenings and functional movement assessments.
* Apply taping, bracing, padding, and protective equipment.
* Monitor athlete workload, recovery, and overall wellness,
* Educate athletes on nutrition, hydration, sleep, and recovery strategies.

3. Practice and Game Coverage (20%)

* Provide on-field medical coverage for practices, workouts, and competitions.
* Perform immediate injury assessment and emergency care.
* Make return-to-play decisions in collaboration with team physicians.
* Travel with the team as required for away competitions.

4. Emergency Preparedness and Risk Management (10%)

* Develop and maintain Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
* Respond to medical emergencies including concussion, heat illness, and cardiac events.
* Maintain CPR, AED, and first-aid readiness.
* Ensure compliance with league, conference, and institutional safety protocols.

5. Administrative Duties and Documentation (10%)

* Maintain accurate injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records.
* Manage medical supplies, inventory, and budget needs.
* Schedule medical appointments and coordinate referrals.
* Ensure compliance with HIPAA and institutional documentation standards.

6. Other Duties (5%)

* Perform additional duties as assigned by Athletics administration.
* Ensure compliance with University, NCAA, and SEC rules, policies, and procedures.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer is preferred.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $53,000 - $68,000 depending on ability and experience

Grade: GGS-9E
