Title: Medicaid Fair Hearing Officer
Location: Richmond, VA 23219
Pay Rate: $50.00/Hour on W2 without benefits
Duration: 6+ months

Job Description:
- The scope of work of the administrative hearing officer includes independently managing a caseload of eligibility appeals to ensure timely compliance with deadlines.
- The administrative hearing officer will review appeal requests, case documents, and other appropriate evidence to draft and render administrative decisions in accordance with fair hearing principles.
- The administrative hearing officer will also contact appellants and their representatives to identify outstanding documentation requested by the Division and to answer questions about the appeal process.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs):
- Experience independently managing a caseload to meet established time frames.
- Considerable work-related experience applying rules to facts to reach logical, legally supportable conclusions.
- Knowledge of administrative law and / or appeals procedures.
- Considerable knowledge of legal research methodologies, including computerized legal research.
- Considerable experience with technology, including MS Office.
- Considerable experience interpreting, applying, and analyzing federal and state complex laws, regulations, policies, or case law.
- Experience in meeting deadlines.
- Experience with internal/external stakeholders.
- Considerable experience in legal analysis and legal writing.
Computer software to be used:
- MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, SharePoint, Adobe Pro
Mandatory skills/certification(s) Requirement:
- Valid Driver's License, clean driving record, and ability to drive and navigate through downtown traffic
