Overview

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for an Emergency Preparedness/Safeguards & Security Co-Op in Richland, WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).



Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

Support Navarro-ATL's Emergency Preparedness (EP) and Safeguards & Security (SAS) organization by applying classroom-based education to gain hands-on practical experience within field of study. Contribute to the development of new ideas and concepts. Perform a variety of administrative support activities in areas such as Emergency Preparedness training, drill development, and drill performance and evaluation. Participate in Safeguards and Security walkdowns, planning meetings, and surveillances. Prepare and organize program documentation packages and submit them to records.

    Under direct supervision:
    • Complete required training.
    • Ensure work complies with applicable procedures.
    • Perform research, compile data, and prepare reports.
    • Interface with and coordinate activities between various internal and external organizations.
    • Support the development and delivery of Emergency Preparedness classroom and field-based training.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • An active full-time student during the two semesters/quarters immediately preceding the assignment.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) during their college enrollment.
  • Currently enrolled and pursuing a degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, or related field.
  • Able to work 15-40 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, 6:30 am-5:00 pm.
  • Basic understanding of Emergency Preparedness, Emergency Response, Health and Safety, Safeguards and Security, and/or HAZMAT response and requires direct instruction on daily work and new assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint software.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing presentations.
  • Coursework in Emergency Management.


Compensation

Grade Business Co-Op Soph: $21.00/hr

Grade Business Co-Op Jr: $24.60/hr

Grade Business Co-Op Sr: $28.00/hr

The grade level offered to the selected candidate will be based on business needs and the candidate's education, training, and/or relevant experience.
