Job Description

  • Assist patrons by providing reference services to the collection.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with newspaper publishers, libraries and historical societies to collect current and historic Missouri newspapers for inclusion in SHSMO collections.
  • Inventory and prepare newspapers for conservation and microfilming including conducting quality control and enhancing digital images.
  • Prepare microfilm shipments for vendors and customers and process incoming shipments.
  • Maintain and operate equipment to scan and microfilm collections.
  • Catalog newspapers and related collections according to current standards.
  • Promote collections using social media platforms and SHSMO publications.
  • Continue education through attending conferences, seminars, and professional meetings.
  • Conduct tours and presentations to promote the use of the research center.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Library Science or History or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • Experience working with digital materials.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of the history of Missouri and the Midwest.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $19.24 - $22.92 per hour

Grade: GGS 008
