Job Description

The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a Quality Controlled Materials Specialist I. This position will play an important role within MURR by supporting radioisotope production.

The core functions and responsibilities of the QC Controlled Materials Specialist I is to perform quality control testing for pharmaceutical products and processing components, and raw materials. The Controlled Materials Quality Control Technician will perform receiving inspection, verification of purchased product, quarantine and release of cGMP-controlled materials, and quality control testing activities in an FDA and NRC regulated environment. Analytical testing for various materials, testing includes ICP-OES analysis, Volumetric titrations, color and clarity verification tests and pipetting critical volumes. The position's responsibilities include:

  • Verification inspection and quality control testing and confirmation of pharmaceutical product ingredients, components, and packaging systems in accordance with FDA and/or USP guidelines.
  • Coordination of analytical testing in association with routine production components and radiochemical release utilizing qualified equipment.
  • Execution of visual inspection of pharmaceutical product ingredients, components, and packaging systems including color differentiation, small particulate identification, and packaging integrity.
  • Communicate and coordinate with production groups to establish release timelines for raw materials and process components, adjusting for high priority items as needed.
  • Complete various analytical techniques, such as pipetting, ICP-OES and ICP-MS standard and sample analysis, and volumetric titrations, which involves identification of the endpoint via color differentiation.
  • Determine the color and/or clarity of various solutions, acids, powders and reagents.
  • Complete black light identification tests on various materials, such as quartz.
  • Evaluate calibrations and control standards and their records for instrumentation used for Quality Control testing to determine qualification status. Perform or schedule instrument calibrations in accordance with standard operating procedures and requirements.
  • Assist with other Quality Unit activities, as assigned, related to MURR Quality Control department activities for products, processes, and customer support in compliance with FDA and GMP requirements. May include handling of radioactive material, for which radiation and laboratory safety training will be provided.
  • Maintain detailed quality system documents and records in compliance with FDA documentation guidelines.

After receiving a job offer, but before commencing employment, candidates must agree to and pass a visual acuity test, which includes testing for the ability to distinguish colors

Shift

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment.
Experience working in an analytical chemistry lab environment.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Salary: $21.63 per hour
