Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Paralegal to join our Office of General Counsel. This role will provide advanced legal support across a broad range of corporate legal matters, including corporate governance, regulatory licensing, contract review, and legal research. The Senior Paralegal will work under limited supervision to provide legal support for a team of 8-10 attorneys and collaborate with two junior paralegals, with a preference for candidates who bring experience mentoring or guiding legal operations staff.

Job Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Licensing: Leads regulatory filings and licensing activities with Departments of Insurance and other regulatory bodies. Track deadlines and maintain documentation related to state filings and renewals. Coordinates with business partners and attorneys to prepare new and amended applications, gathers supporting documentation and approvals prior to filing.
  • Legal Research & Analysis: Conducts detailed legal research using platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, and regulatory databases. Analyze statutes, regulations, and case law; prepare concise summaries and recommendations for attorney review.
  • Contract Review & Drafting: Reviews, drafts, and edits contracts, NDAs, and other legal agreements. Coordinate with attorneys and business partners to ensure timely execution and compliance with internal standards.
  • Document Preparation & File Management: Prepares legal documents, correspondence, and training materials. Organize and maintain legal files, ensuring all relevant information is accessible and up-to-date.
  • Legal Intake & Matter Management: Manages legal intake process for new matters, ensuring accurate setup in the legal matter management system. Assigns appropriate naming conventions, categorize matters, and ensure proper routing to attorneys.
  • Corporate Governance Support: Drafts and maintains corporate records, board resolutions, and subsidiary documentation. Assists with entity formation, dissolution, and compliance filings.
  • Technology & Systems Use: Inputs and maintains data in legal systems (e.g., Legal Tracker, SharePoint). Ensure data integrity and support reporting needs.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Works closely with a team of 8-10 attorneys and legal operations team. Provide informal mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing legal support environment.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Assists with legal projects involving compliance, governance, licensing, and contracts. Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders as needed.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience, preferably in a corporate legal department or law firm or
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting corporate legal functions in the property & casualty insurance industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in paralegal studies or equivalent; Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited program preferred or commensurate experience.
  • Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and contract law.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Location

Hybrid defined as three or more days per week in the office.
