Assistant Director of Career Development Services for Internships
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead, develop and deliver comprehensive student internship, career development and student placement services in support of students' educational, occupational and personal growth.
Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
Responsiblities include:
- Oversee the unit's experiential learning programs, covering both paid and unpaid internships.
- Build and maintain working relationships with faculty to support departmental internships and advertise all internships.
- Work with faculty and staff to promote cooperative relationships that will result in internship opportunities for students.
- Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with local and national employers who can provide experiential learning and employment options for students.
- Aggressively research and contact local companies and organizations to build networking and internship programs; this includes site visits.
- Consult with employers regarding optimal marketing strategies to connect students to internships and jobs and to collaborate on events and workshops.
- Provide students with guidance and information regarding career research, options and decision making, goal setting, job searching, and the graduate school application process.
- Assist students with the graduate school application process by providing them with information about the research process, graduate admissions exams, and essay writing.
- Coordinate additional activities including: internship site visits, intern spotlights, internship fairs and other special programming.
- Assist with employer and student communication, as well as, scheduling space and interviews for the on-campus interviewing process that generates student interviews annually
- Provide general administrative support to employer relations leadership and staff including meeting scheduling and planning.
- Collaborate with campus partners to administer/support student access and opportunity programs
- Provide opportunities for career exploration and education, career advising and planning, the development of job search skills and strategies, networking and interviewing skills, and connection to internship and employment options.
- Manage all aspects of the internship program including strategies, services, personnel, and budget.

- Bachelors degree in Business or other relevant subject area.
- Five years of career services experience in a higher education setting or any equivalent combination in the area of career and professional development.
- Experience with executing special events.
- Record of successful outreach to fulfill business/industry needs and develop strong employer partnerships.
- Demonstrated knowledge of career development and advising of diverse populations.
- Proficient in the Microsoft office package (Word, Excel, Outlook), presentation software, the internet and use of social media for educational purposes.
