Reports To: Maintenance Manager

The Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for maintaining safe, compliant, and well-functioning manufacturing facilities across all company sites. This role combines hands-on facilities coordination with ownership of environmental, health, and safety programs.

Working closely with the Maintenance Manager, site leaders, and operations teams, this position ensures that our safety and environmental programs meet internal and external requirements, our buildings and grounds are properly maintained, and our associates work in a safe, efficient, and sustainable environment.

Facilities Management



  • Coordinate day-to-day facility operations and maintenance for all sites, including building systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing, fire suppression, etc.), grounds, and utilities.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts for janitorial, landscaping, pest control, waste removal, and other facility services.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify and address facility issues before they impact operations.
  • Support capital improvement and repair projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Assist with space planning, site upkeep, and minor construction or relocation efforts as needed.
  • Track facility work orders, utility usage, and maintenance expenses to support budgeting and planning.


Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)



  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs and procedures across all sites.
  • Conduct safety and environmental inspections, audits, and risk assessments; communicate findings and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Coordinate incident investigations and track corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain safety records, training documentation, and regulatory compliance files (OSHA logs, permits, waste manifests, etc.).
  • Manage hazardous waste disposal, recycling programs, and environmental compliance reporting (EPA, state, and local).
  • Partner with site leadership to ensure emergency preparedness plans and drills are up to date and effective.
  • Assist in training employees and supervisors on safety procedures, hazard communication, PPE, and safe work practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all facilities.
  • Lead and maintain the Environmental and Safety Management Systems
  • Coordinate with key external safety and environmental specialty resources as appropriate


Qualifications:



  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety, Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • 3-7 years of experience in safety or environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial environment. (emphasized the environmental/safety over the facilities)
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience/understanding of ISO 14001
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and vendor relationships effectively
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Comfortable with hands-on facility work, inspections, and field activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to maintain digital documentation and reporting.

    Education
    Bachelors of Environmental Engineering (preferred)
    Associates of Environmental Engineering (preferred)
    Experience
    3 - 7 years: Facilities Management (preferred)
    3 - 7 years: EHS experience (preferred)
