Title: MIT - Ultrasound Technician
Location: Portland, OR
Shift & Duration: Flexible
Pay Rate Range: $78 to 85 /hour on W2
Work Hours / Scheduling:
Shifts may include 8, 9, or 10 hours per day, with potential rotating weekends/holidays
- 8-hour shifts: 5 days/week, 30 min lunch 9-hour shifts: rotating 4-5 days/week, 30 min lunch 10-hour shifts: 4 days/week
- Overtime, on-call, and call-back duties may be required.
- Minimum assignments: 2 days (16 hours); longer assignments possible.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Perform standard and complex ultrasound exams, including abdomen, liver, renal, GYN, and small parts.
- Complete documentation, quality assurance, and imaging-related computer tasks.
- Schedule exams efficiently while accommodating emergency cases.
- Collaborate with radiologists regarding nonstandard exams and communicate results promptly.
- Ensure patient and staff safety, following all radiation and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate records, logbooks, and patient images in hospital information systems.
- Properly identify patients and explain exams, including potential risks.
- Perform on-call and emergency scans as needed.
- Work independently and report unusual issues to supervising technologist.
Physical Demands:
- Perform all duties without restriction.
- Moderate lifting/carrying (50-100 lbs).
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Assist with patient positioning, moving equipment, and supplies.
- Manual dexterity and mobility required; reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching during exams.
Qualifications:
- ARDMS registration in Abdomen/Small Parts plus at least two additional certifications (e.g., RVT, OB/GYN, Musculoskeletal).
- Current BCLS certification.
- Expertise in ultrasounds of the scrotum, pelvis, U/S-guided biopsies, renal artery stenosis, and renal Doppler.
- Minimum 3 years of U.S. hospital experience.
- Recent hospital experience as an Ultrasound or Vascular Ultrasound Technician (within last 6 months).
- Current professional liability insurance.
- Availability to work for at least 6 months after start date.
