Chemical Lab Technician (Electroplating Operations)

Location: On-site

Shifts Available: 2nd Shift & 3rd Shift (15% shift differential)

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire


Position Overview

We are seeking a Chemical Lab Technician to support its chemistry lab and production plating operations on 2nd and 3rd shifts. This is a highly hands-on role responsible for testing, monitoring, and adjusting chemical plating baths to ensure consistent product quality and process stability.

Working under the direction of a Chemical Engineer and Lab Manager, this position plays a critical role in supporting production operators and maintaining plating chemistry within tight tolerances in a fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform routine testing and analysis of chemical plating baths, including concentration checks and ICP analysis



  • Monitor bath health and make chemical adjustments to maintain specifications



  • Add chemicals to plating baths using drums and drum dollies in accordance with safety protocols



  • Support production operators with chemistry-related questions and troubleshooting



  • Collaborate with lab and engineering leadership to ensure process stability and consistency



  • Use computer systems and statistical/monitoring software to track trends and chemistry levels



  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow established operating procedures




Technical Environment


  • Reel-to-reel electroplating production lines



  • Continuous chemical bath monitoring and adjustment



  • Measurement and inspection to micro-level tolerances



  • Windows-based systems with basic to intermediate computer usage



  • Statistical or process-monitoring software




Qualifications & Candidate Profile


  • Strong interest in chemistry with a hands-on, practical mindset



  • No degree required; relevant experience or aptitude preferred



  • Comfortable working directly with chemicals and production equipment



  • Willingness to learn and train (approximately 6 months to full productivity)



  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during off-shift hours



  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy



  • Open to coaching and capable of following detailed procedures




Experience with titrations or basic chemistry concepts is a plus but not required.

  • Background check required due to trust and security considerations



  • Strong emphasis on integrity, accountability, and attention to detail




Shift & Schedule Details


  • 2nd Shift: 1 opening



  • 3rd Shift: 1 opening



  • Shift Differential: 15% pay increase for off shifts



  • 24/7 operation
