Job Summary

#CA-SS

The Clinical Education and Quality Improvement Coordinator uses clinical expertise to meet, coordinate and/or provide staff learning for orientation, in-service training, competency processes and program development for existing and new services. Analyze data for development and implementation of routines and guidelines resulting in the highest quality patient care. Ensure patient care is at the highest standards of evidence-based practice and that Department and Hospital Policies and Procedures are met. This position may act as a liaison between patients and providers; provide direct patient care; and collaborates with other disciplines within UCDMC to assure a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach to respiratory care. Assumes a leadership role in the development, refinement and continuous quality improvement of Department policies and procedures. As part of the respiratory care management team assures appropriate coordination and distribution of staffing and resources.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Current and valid California Respiratory Care Practitioner License
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care
  • American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Baccalaureate Degree or in progress.
  • Minimum of five year's experience as an RCP in an Acute Care Hospital
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
  • Knowledge of the clinical and scientific basis and effects of Respiratory Care procedures, equipment and medications.
  • Ability to collect data and reports for the JC and the California Department of Public HealthSkill to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
  • Understanding of performance improvement techniques.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Communication that is professional in both verbal and written languages to visitors, patients and other health care providers.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, nurses, physicians and other department managers and hospital personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)/American Heart Association (AHA) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Extensive ICU experience, preferably in a teaching facility
  • Experience scheduling preferred.

Work Environment

  • UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
