MasTec is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead operations across the greater Knoxville Market (East Tennessee Region). This role oversees all Outside Plant Construction activities-including underground, aerial, and splicing work-within the Telco, CATV, and FTTH environment. The ideal candidate has significant experience managing large construction operations. The General Manager will be responsible for overall market P&L performance and will provide leadership to a team of managers and shop personnel.


Responsibilities

As an OPS Wireline Telecom General Manager, you are responsible for all financial aspects of the Area's operation. The General Manager is responsible for implementing and adhering to all Company policies and procedures. You are responsible for maintaining customer relationships, driving customer compliance, resource management, and other key metrics. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. In addition, you will:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the overall construction and project management department
  • Develop processes and procedures to facilitate the successful completion of projects from start to finish
  • Directly oversee Construction Supervisors, Managers, Project Managers, programs to ensure projects are constructed as designed on budget, while constructing safely, with quality, and on schedule
  • Assist in disputes on all projects, negotiating as required to resolve construction problems
  • Work with the OFS support team and back-office staff to ensure compliance with both internal and external reporting deadlines and financial reporting requirements
  • Prepare weekly revenue and cost reports
  • Manage material, equipment, and production costs, performance requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Prioritization of projects based on customer needs, escalations, identifying resource needs, and assignments
  • Evaluation of employee performance, job assignment, employee retention, employee career path, and development of your team's skill set, and knowledge of the telecom industry
  • Interface with customers, vendors, subcontractors, while identifying additional opportunities for market growth and sustainability
  • Driving a safety culture, SSO compliance, MVI, TRIR, and DART metrics

Qualifications

About You:

  • You track new and completed work with a high level of quality
  • You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work
  • Safety is a part of your day
  • You have at least 5 years of progressively challenging leadership experience, preferably in a telecom construction environment
  • You embrace the challenge of coaching and mentoring your team and driving change when needed
  • You have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn custom software
  • You understand basic accounting principles
  • You have experience with underground OSP construction of fiber deployment, and FTTH

Compensation of $140,000-$160,000 annually, depending on the experience.
