Responsible for leading and instructing group fitness classes, including land-based and aquatic formats. This role involves designing and delivering engaging fitness programs tailored to the needs of patients, staff, and community members. The instructor will work closely with the wellness team and other healthcare professionals to promote physical fitness and overall well-being.

Essential Functions

* Plan and lead group fitness classes, including but not limited to aerobics, strength training, yoga, aquatic fitness, or other exercise modalities.
* Provide clear and effective instruction, ensuring exercises are performed correctly and safely in both studio and pool environments when applicable.
* Develop and implement fitness programs tailored to various fitness levels and health conditions.
* Adapt exercises and class content based on the specific needs and goals of participants.
* Create a positive and motivating class environment to encourage participant engagement and adherence.
* Offer modifications and alternatives to accommodate participants with different fitness levels or physical limitations.
* Monitor participant safety and follow all facility-specific pool and fitness safety protocols.
* Collaborate with the wellness team to support overall programming and community engagement initiatives.

Education

Active Group Fitness, Personal Training, or Aquatics certification from an approved provider that is relevant to the class being taught.

Experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Licenses and Credentials

Heartsaver CPR AED [CPR] - American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Experience

Experience in group fitness instruction and/or aquatic fitness instruction.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Strong knowledge of fitness techniques and principles for both land-based and aquatic programming.
* Excellent communication and motivational skills.
* Ability to adapt exercises for diverse populations, including individuals with specific health conditions.
* Knowledge of pool safety standards and emergency procedures when teaching aquatic classes.
* Ability to create an inclusive and engaging class environment.
