This is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification and considered the career level for the job hierarchy. Senior Engineering Technologist provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for unreviewed work.

The DCS Engineer Technologist will work at the site, within the stations technical team and provide direct support to plant operations and maintenance, primarily in the form of troubleshooting, problem solving, and technical recommendations for assigned plant systems and equipment. In addition, the successful candidate will participate in capital improvement and maintenance projects as required.

Responsibilities
  • Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise.

  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of moderate scope and complexity.

  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.

  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.

  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities across various groups.

  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.

  • Provides coaching and mentorship to fellow Engineers and Engineering Technologists.

Basic Requirements

  • Associates in Engineering Technology

  • Minimum 6 years related experience

  • In Lieu of associate's degree and 6 years related experience, HS Diploma / GED and 8 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of Emerson Ovation Control System.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues.

  • Good understanding of NERC Cyber Security requirements for low impact sites.

  • Experience in the utility industry.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology.

  • Demonstrates skills applying leadership in the areas of technical project management, program oversight and/or governance.

  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions
  • Onsite Mobility Classification - Work will be performed at a company facility.
