What You Will Do: As the Engineering Supervisor, you will play an essential role within our Engineering department, reporting to Sr. Manager of Engineering. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Design natural gas mains, transmission facilities, reg stations, and other ENSTAR facilities.
- Prepare specifications, estimates; review and select qualified contractors and attend contractor coordination meetings.
- Coordinate with government agencies to successfully and efficiently complete road projects.
- Prepare and/or supervise the preparation and/or review of the following: valve maintenance program, department standards, best practices, Standard Operating Procedures, transmission system emergency shutdown procedures, pressure survey, DOT annual report, and incident reports.
- Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures consistent with ENSTAR's goals and objectives.
- Review work schedule priorities and determine type of personnel, skills, and equipment required to perform the job through completion.
- Formulate department goals and objectives consulting with staff, Senior Manager of Engineering, and Director of Engineering.
- Review staffing requirements with Senior Manager of Engineering and Director of Engineering to ensure that work schedule requirements are met.
- Evaluate and counsel staff. Identify and resolve employee performance and other related personnel issues.
- Supervise department to confirm that company engineering requirements are met. These requirements include (but are not limited to):
- Work with management to prioritize projects that ensure gas system is safe and reliable.
- Provide necessary engineering, procurement, and project management support to ensure that system related capital projects are being completed.
- Ensure all agency (federal and state) requirements are met. These requirements include submittal of annual US DOT (PHMSA) reports, ensuring other DOT requirements are met, and supporting the pipeline integrity management program (IMP).
- Coordinate adjusting facilities as required for accommodating local construction projects.
- Determine training requirements for staff.
- Perform Duty and Pipeline Supervisor responsibilities as required.
- Work at ENSTAR locations or other sites involving travel via small aircraft, boats, ATV's, and snowmobiles in varying weather conditions.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Active PE license in the State of Alaska.
- Five or more years gas/pipeline industry engineering experience.
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the ENSTAR's Driving Policy.
- Ability to pass a drug, background, credit, past employment, and driving record screening.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management, staff, counsel, and the public; exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others in difficult circumstances or to resolve issues.
- Knowledge of engineering concepts and ability to perform related tasks.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to prepare clear and understandable written documentation and communication materials.
- Ability to contribute in a team environment or independently.
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills. Must be able to provide effective change-management leadership that will effectuate change to support ENSTAR's business strategy.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to evaluate data, compile statistics, and prepare reports.
- Ability to effectively utilize current engineering technologies.
- Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
- Must be detail oriented; have superior organizational and follow-up skills and be able to establish and maintain accurate records.
- Good understanding of ENSTAR's policies, procedures and processes.
- Ability to interpret plans, typographical, and other related maps.
- Good working knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by the ENSTAR such as GIS and AutoCad.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations; detect unobvious facts and issues and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.
