Forward Deployment Engineer

Adobe Inc.
United States, California, San Jose
345 Park Avenue (Show on map)
Mar 05, 2026

The Team

You will be joining the newly formed Forward Deployment Engineering (FDE) team within Adobe's Digital Experience organization. As part of a key innovation initiative, our mandate is to bridge the gap between product engineering and real-world implementation. We are a team of world-class engineers dedicated to solving the most complex challenges for the world's largest companies, ensuring they extract maximum value from the Adobe ecosystem.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to join a "startup within a giant." As a Forward Deployment Engineer, you will be the hands-on builder bridging the gap between Adobe's core products and real-world customer needs. You won't just be writing tickets in a backlog; you will be onsite (or virtual) with customer engineering teams, rapidly prototyping solutions, and writing the code that connects the Adobe Experience Cloud to the world's largest enterprises. If you love to hack on complex problems, ship code fast, and see immediate impact, this is your team.

What You'll Do

  • Build and Ship Fast: Rapidly design and implement features and integrations based on immediate customer requirements, moving quickly from "whiteboard sketch" to working code.

  • AI-Driven Prototyping: Experiment with Generative AI and agentic workflows to create novel demos and automation tools that showcase the future of the Adobe ecosystem.

  • Production-Grade Engineering: Write clean, efficient, and testable Java/Scala code for high-availability systems and RESTful APIs.

  • Solve the Puzzle: Troubleshoot complex integration issues in real-time, performing root cause analysis when services don't behave as expected.

  • Collaborate & Learn: Partner with senior architects to understand the "why" behind the build, while providing feedback to product teams on how customers are actually using our APIs and AI features.

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in Java or Scala.

  • Experience building backend services using frameworks like Spring Boot.

  • Familiarity with LLM Development: You have used APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) to build applications and understand the basics of prompt engineering and context management.

  • Solid understanding of REST API concepts and how to consume/build web services.

  • Practical experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (you know how to write a query and design a basic schema).

  • A "hacker" mindset: You are curious, you learn new technologies quickly, and you enjoy finding creative workarounds to technical blockers.

Bonus Points (Desired Extras)

We are looking for well-rounded engineers who love technology. Any of the following are a huge plus:

  • Agentic Frameworks: Experience playing with LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or AutoGPT concepts to build autonomous agents.

  • RAG Knowledge: Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (vector databases, embeddings) to ground LLM responses in real data.

  • Full-Stack Curiosity: Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) to build complete end-to-end demos.

  • Side Projects & Hackathons: A GitHub profile showing personal projects-especially those involving AI wrappers, chatbots, or automation tools.

  • Cloud Playground: Experience deploying your own apps to AWS, Azure, or GCP (e.g., deploying a Python AI bot on Lambda).

  • Data Tinkering: Basic exposure to data streaming (Kafka) or big data tools; you aren't afraid of large datasets.

This role is eligible for bonus and equity
