About The Department of Women's Health

The Department of Women's Health encompasses the full range of subspecialties including specialists in Academic General Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, Gynecologic Oncology, Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

About The Maternal Fetal Medicine Genetic Counselor

The Dell Medical School is seeking an exceptional leader to join the Department of Women's Health as a Maternal Fetal Medicine Genetic Counselor. The Genetic Counselor is a full-time position that will report directly to the Division Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine. The expectation for activity is 100% patient care.

The Genetic Counselor, Maternal Fetal Medicine, will provide direct patient care providing genetic counseling to a diverse population of high-risk patients, play a role in educating learners and contribute to investigation and discovery in medical genetics.

Job Responsibilities

* Elicit, obtain and organize family history and medical information, including pregnancy development

* Determine optimal prenatal genetic testing strategies and timely reporting of genetic testing results

* Provide timely reporting on testing results and genetic counseling services to patients

* Coordinate communication between patient and multi-disciplinary medical team in the diagnosis and evaluation of genetic conditions

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Genetic Counseling/Human Genetics or closely related field
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling
  • 5 - 10 years of related experience
