Job Title -HR Generalist Location -Montgomery, AL, on-site Resumes will be reviewed continually. What You Will Do The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive HR support to both home office and project site employees, serving as a trusted advisor to management on employee relations, compliance, talent, and organizational development matters. This role operates with autonomy, leading HR initiatives that strengthen employee engagement, improve retention, and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, company policies, and government contracting requirements. The HR Generalist partners closely with HR leadership to implement strategic initiatives, guides HR Coordinator, and serves as a subject matter expert for day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, and policy interpretation.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, guiding managers and employees through coaching, conflict resolution, and performance management processes.
- Conduct investigations into employee concerns and ensure documentation aligns with company policies and legal standards, escalating to the appropriate person when needed.
- Update and maintain federal and state law information that specifically correlates with HR functions. Partner with the Director of HR to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as OFCCP and EEO.
- Review and recommend updates to policies and procedures to improve compliance and organizational effectiveness.
Talent Management & Development
- Support talent acquisition strategies by partnering with hiring managers on job descriptions.
- Support Sr HR Coordinator with the enhancement of onboarding and orientation programs for both domestic and international new hires; conduct 60 and 90-day check-ins with employees and supervisors.
- Participate in workforce planning efforts, analyzing turnover, and providing data-driven recommendations, including exit interviews.
Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems
- Serves as the super admin for the performance management system and processes.
- Support, redirect, and capture benefit issues and suggestions for improvements to share with Alliance.
- Assist with compensation reviews, job evaluations, and internal equity assessments.
- Support HRIS data integrity, reporting, and process optimization.
- Provide quarterly metrics for multiple committees and departments.
Engagement & Culture
- Partner with the Director of HR on employee engagement strategies, communications, and recognition initiatives, including service awards.
- Lead HR communications through Caddell's monthly internal newsletter and TV monitors.
- Lead culture-building programs, team-building events, women in construction recognition efforts, and wellness initiatives.
Project & Program Leadership
- Lead assigned HR projects such as policy rollouts, process redesigns, or compliance audits.
- Represent HR in cross-functional teams and provide recommendations to improve the employee experience.

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum of 6-8 years of progressive HR experience, including exposure to broad HR knowledge, ideally with at least 2 years in a Generalist capacity.
- Prior experience in construction, engineering, or a federal contracting environment preferred.
- Professional certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) strongly preferred. SHRM-CA certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -
- Broad knowledge of HR functions, including employee relations, recruiting, benefits, compliance, and performance management.
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
- High level of interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills.
- An analytical mindset with the ability to interpret HR metrics and recommend actions.
- Proficient in HRIS platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and reporting tools.
- Ability to balance strategic initiatives with daily operational support.
- Working Conditions- Office setting, some travel required, full-time.

While the salary range is typically between $62,100 - 93,200 annually, applicants are encouraged to share compensation expectations as part of the application process.
