Requisition Number:R156675 Pharmacist, Clinical Specialist - Critical Care (Open) How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:$30,000 Sign-On Bonus $10,000 Relocation Assistance Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital is a 763-bed academic medical center affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. As an academic facility with a Level I trauma center, this tertiary/quaternary care institution has numerous post-graduate training programs, including multiple medical and surgical residencies and fellowships. The Critical Care Clinical Specialist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care to critically ill adult patients in the medical intensive care unit to assure safe and effective drug therapy. This pharmacist will develop and maintain a clinical practice by participating in clinical rounds in adult ICU patient care areas. Activities include collaborating with members of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine to develop policies and protocols that provide effective and efficient use of medications, providing consultation for other health care providers, educating patients and other health care providers, and reviewing and processing medication orders. This position would also include relevant committee representation, staff education, and precepting pharmacy students. This position would be directly involved in precepting PGY1 pharmacy residents and PGY2 critical care, emergency medicine, and internal medicine pharmacy residents. Qualified candidates must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and must possess a current Virginia pharmacist license or be eligible for licensure. An ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency is required and specialized PGY2 residency training in Critical Care is preferred. Applicants must possess excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as demonstrate advanced skills in critical thinking and analysis. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision. This position provides full-time, weekday, day-shift patient care in the ICU and includes an every 5th weekend staffing rotation covering decentralized patients on either the day or evening shift. The role also requires working one major and one minor holiday each year. What We Require: Education: Must be a graduate of a College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). Licensure, certification, and/or registration: License to practice Pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia required within 90 days of hire. During the first 90 days of employment and the licensure application process, pharmacists without a valid license to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Virginia may not perform duties restricted to a licensed pharmacist until the license is obtained. If the license is not obtained within 90 days of employment, the employee may be subject to separation from Carilion Clinic.
