Salary range:
The salary range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. The salary range listed is for base compensation only and may be adjusted depending on qualifications and experience. The salary range does not include variable compensation and is subject to the individual department compensation plan. Please note that eligibility for the Health Sciences Compensation Plan requires an FTE percentage greater than 50%.

Position description

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis is actively seeking dynamic, forward-thinking Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) with doctoral degrees to join its faculty as instructors of record for the Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP-FNP) program.

Part-time and full-time, non-tenured positions at the Assistant and Associate rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor (HSCP) Series or full-time Clinical X Series are available at UC Davis Health, which is located on a modern, 140-acre campus in Sacramento, California. The Sacramento campus is home to the School of Nursing, School of Medicine, UC Davis Medical Center (including a level-I trauma center and burn unit, and a full range of outpatient services), a fully accredited Children's Hospital, and an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Practice locations include UC Davis Health Medical Center, UC Davis department and primary care network clinics, Sacramento County clinics, local FQHCs and other clinical sites.

The DNP-FNP program follows a hybrid format, seamlessly blending distance-based education with four in- person immersions on campus. Courses are primarily asynchronous, ensuring maximum flexibility for working nurses with diverse schedules. Faculty members in this program will follow a hybrid schedule, with requirements to be on-campus for set educational, administrative, and school obligations.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include working in collaboration with the program director and program faculty to ensure quality program curriculum and instruction in the didactic and clinical phases of the program. Duties include course management, teaching, skills and simulation labs, student advisement, and student formative and summative evaluation. Responsibilities may also include participation in clinical site visits, scholarly project committee work, student remediation, test writing and analysis, program admissions, accreditation processes and program assessment to include serving on committees essential to the Doctor of Nursing Practice - Family Nurse Practitioner program and school's functioning.

These faculty will also be involved in scholarly activity and committee service commensurate with this position. Successful part-time candidates may do a pro-rated portion of the activities described above.

A candidate for appointment in the HSCP or Clinical X Series shall be evaluated by the following criteria, which shall be appropriately weighted according to the primary emphasis on clinical and clinically-relevant teaching and patient care services and also according to the needs of the school and the individual's responsibilities in the specific discipline. The four criteria are:

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

A doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, EdD) is required.

The candidate must meet the following basic qualifications:



  1. Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with a specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  2. Current California Registered Nurse license
  3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  4. Minimum 3 years advanced clinical practice experience

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

  1. A record of proficiency in academic or clinical education
  2. Exceptional communication skills, including an ability to work effectively within a team that is comprised of multiple stakeholders from diverse backgrounds such as interprofessional colleagues, practice colleagues, faculty, senior leadership, staff, and students
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide support, advocacy and mentorship to students and faculty
  4. Demonstrated advocate for change and innovation
  5. Willingness to share knowledge and expertise in their subject area
  6. Experience with or understanding of online educational learning and teaching including use of learning technologies
  7. Demonstrated experience in learning management systems

Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position)

  1. Content expertise in organizational and system change through leadership, research, and/or evidence-based practice
  2. Content expertise in Nursing Leadership business operations/administration
  3. Experience with oversight of advanced practice clinical rotations
  4. Understanding of concept-based curriculum
  5. One year full-time direct patient care experience as an RN or one academic year of RN clinical teaching within the last five years
