Job Overview
The Systems & Network Reliability Engineer (SRE) improves and protects the software, infrastructure, and network systems that power T-Mobile's IT and customer-facing services. This role ensures scalability, availability, performance, security, and reliability across applications and networks, with a strong focus on proactively identifying and preventing network issues before they impact customers. The engineer will play a critical role in outage bridges, leveraging KPIs, telemetry, and AI-driven analytics to pinpoint problems with speed and accuracy.
From designing & maintaining CI/CD pipelines to operating large-scale network infrastructure (Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, F5, Infoblox, A10), the SNRE enables great customer experiences through automation, observability, and innovation.
Job Responsibilities: Reliability Engineering
- Create new designs, architectures, and standards for delivering software and network services faster, better, and more reliably.
- Improve scalability, latency, and efficiency of T-Mobile's applications and network services.
- Contribute to cloud enablement, containerization, and microservices reliability.
- Manage improvement work, PoCs, and future automation projects.
Network Reliability & Operations
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues in routers, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and global traffic managers (Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, A10, Infoblox, BIND, F5 GTM).
- Proactively forecast and address capacity and performance bottlenecks to prevent outages.
- Provide network expertise on outage bridges, rapidly identifying root causes using developed KPIs and telemetry.
- Define standards and playbooks for fault prevention and outage handling.
Observability & Telemetry
- Build and operationalize telemetry pipelines with ServiceNow AIOps, Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, SevOne, Splunk, and OpenTelemetry (OTEL).
- Develop AI/ML-driven models to detect anomalies and predict failures across network, infrastructure, cloud, DNS, and application layers.
- Create and maintain dashboards and health checks for real-time visibility into system and network reliability.
Cloud, Automation & Infrastructure-as-Code
- Use Terraform and IaC to deploy and manage infrastructure and applications in AWS cloud.
- Integrate reliability practices into CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
- Define, measure, and optimize performance KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs across hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud).
- Lead the development and evolution of network and service architecture designs to support technology portfolio enhancements
- Conduct analysis and interpretation of network simulations and test results to inform architecture decisions
- Create and maintain technical documentation and presentations to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences
- Drive engineering projects by applying techniques, supervising engineers, and optimizing network architecture processes
- Monitor industry technologies and standards to influence technology and policy decisions across the organization
- Coach and mentor engineers on technology decisions and contribute to cross-functional technical investigations
- Also responsible for other duties/projects assigned by business management as needed
Qualifications: Education:
- Bachelor's degree, required or Equivalent Experience
- Master's degree (Preferred)
Experience: (Required)
- 7-10 years in system, network, or reliability engineering roles.
- Deep expertise in network infrastructure (Cisco, Juniper, Check Point, F5, A10, Infoblox, BIND, DNS).
- Hands-on experience with observability tools: Dynatrace, ThousandEyes, SevOne, Splunk, ServiceNow AIOps, OTEL.
- Proficiency with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet) and cloud deployments (AWS preferred).
- Programming/scripting in Python, Go, or Shell.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
- Experience in AI/ML-based telemetry and predictive network analytics. (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $126,800 - $228,900
Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
