The Full-time Seed Quality Lab Technician, under the direction of the Quality Lab Manager, is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation, evaluation, and recording of quality tests. The position will assist in the management of laboratory quality processes and will be responsible for assisting with special tasks or processes within Quality Labs and communicating updates to the supervisor. Responsible for completion of all job assignments in accordance with established guidelines to meet quality, production, and safety goals. As well as having the ability to find, communicate and resolve problems. The expected compensation range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending upon skill & experience. Responsibilities: * Timely and accurate evaluation, and data management, of seed analysis data * Collect truck samples during seed receiving * Assist in the day-to-day coordination of lab tasks * Apply scientific methods and techniques for analysis as directed by protocols and work instructions to deliver quality results * Assist in research and development projects including validation of lab and IT changes, method/documentation, and implementation of technical protocols/work instructions * Assist in the maintenance of the Quality Process Procedures within the seed labs * Work independently within a team environment to ensure all testing is conducted according to safety policies, laboratory protocols, and regulatory agencies * Utilize and improve laboratory automation platforms. * Ensure equipment maintenance/calibration * Alert supervisor of issues or discrepancies involving sample integrity, supply inventory, safety concerns, or analysis irregularities * Responsible for maintaining compliance with prescribed Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) rules, practices, and guidelines * Provide support on training of lab protocols to seasonal labor and other personnel * Other duties as assigned Qualifications: * Able to critically analyze data and identify trends. Ability to think broadly and in terms of risk and impact * Experience operating, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work as a team member and effectively communicate within a multicultural environment * Detailed oriented with the ability to multitask in a high throughput environment * This position may require a change in shifts as well as weekend and overtime work as required Education: * High school diploma or equivalent Experience: * 2+ years of experience in a laboratory or seed environment preferred PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to read, write and understand instructions and present information * Ability to sit, stand, push/pull, bend, climb, twist/turn for periods of time * Demonstrate good hand/eye coordination * Physically able to lift 30 lbs. or more * Works near moving machinery. Frequent standing and walking on concrete floors SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: * Bump hat, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, boots, and aprons.
