Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry Post Doctoral Research Scholar Full-time Position Description: The University of Iowa, College of Dentistry, Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry has an opening for a post-doctoral research scholar in Dr. Julie Reynolds' laboratory. Dr. Reynolds' lab conducts health services research projects that evaluate access to care, cost of care, and quality of care issues in dentistry. This project will focus on Medicaid-related aspects of dental care quality and access, including coverage, plan design, and enrollment. The role will include reviewing and analyzing existing scientific evidence, data analysis, and scientific writing for journal/article publication. Duration: January 2nd through June 30, 2026. Education Requirement: * PhD in oral sciences, with an emphasis in dental public health including training in:
- Regression discontinuity study design,
- Instrumental variable analyses,
- Quantile regression analyses, and
- Difference-in-difference analyses.
Required Qualifications: * Strong background in health services research, including dental Medicaid-related research. * Experience analyzing large secondary datasets. * Experience utilizing statistical software programs for research (ideally including: SPSS, R, Stata, SAS). * Scientific writing experience including being the lead author on a journal publication related to dental public health. * Experience with grant writing for scientific research support. * Experience utilizing econometric study designs including:
- Difference-in-difference,
- Interrupted Time Series.
HIGHLY Desirable Qualifications: * Experience using Tableau for data visualization. * Experience using REDCap for data entry. * Experience analyzing large Medicaid dental data sets. * Having been a co-author on multiple journal publications.
